My school wasn't on their list of approved schools but all it took was a one page survey and wallah, on the list...There are so many schools out there that some just need to contact WS...My recruiter Roxy was very helpful with this issue and got it done!...
I didn't get the job because of lack of experience

Same here Walstib! My school wasn't on the list, but a few days ago, Sandy faxed over the survey to my school and within a couple of hours it was approved. Now I have been approved for orientation as soon as I finish up with school....

How often do you get home doing 48 states out of curiosity? They told me 3-4 weeks on the phone. How much home time do you get when you get back?
This has got to be the best school for miles no doubt. From what I see they really have A LOT of miles. You guys gotta be up near what mid 3's for a week? -
. Like i said b4 i understand that freight slow and they probably trying to save the freight they do have for the drivers. I'm cool though and if nothing special comes up for me in a few months, i will apply again because freight picks up around mar. or apr. industry wide. You guys keep up the good work, i like to read the posts on here!!!

HI, I called W/S yesterday, said I do not live close to a terminal, the nearest one is in Denver, but that is 275 miles away from where i live. I ask her so we can't take the trucks home. She if I go to Flat bed I can take the truck home, heck thats what I pull now and I don't like flat bed. Takes to much time to tarp and chain when you could turning the wheels making money.

Craig, I see we live in the same state awesome, may I ask who do drive for?
Thanks -
You guys have to remember this. This IS a good company for newbies and a lot of people looking for a change after a couple of years. There aren't a lot of drivers lining up to get out of here. This is a mid size company with only so many trucks available. If I owned a trucking company, yes, I would also hire more new drivers to haul my freight for less. However, the company does seem to care about it's current seasoned drivers because, let's face it, they have fewer mishaps than newbies. Maybe the standard form email that some have received may not be appropriate for the situation, but W/S is a lot better than the responses and BS I got from Swift, Werner, and several others that my CDL school wanted me to work for. I researched W/S and bucked the school system and got lucky. I have one friend who left Stevens during training and another in Missoula right now after completing training with Stevens. Good luck to you all in your job search.
bonbonsron Thanks this.
