$89.25 in Georgia. Just had mine done Friday. In Cartersville. That's 77 miles from my house. 154 miles total on my pickup truck. And yes, Cartersville is the closest place to get it done - I think in FL you can have it done at any driver's license office, but no such luck here, as I found out after I went to the Walker County office of the Georgia Department of Driver Services, in Rock Spring (20 miles from my house).
First time I got fingerprinted for it, they had set up a thing at the Flying J in Resaca, GA so I had it done there.

Nah, I've been doing my thing. I just haven't been online that much, despite having gotten a phone with which I can easily tether. The truck is running fine, a few small hiccups aside (see the thread "Okay, so I bought a used truck from Crete Carrier" over in the O/O section for details).
That's pretty much what I heard when I talked to a driver who had them. I believe he said he had been on something called the "meat fleet", whatever that is. Apparently there were some reefer trailers with Crete lettering on them, that weren't part of the WalMart dedicated fleets.
Hey, there's a good rhyme - Crete Meat Fleet!
I wonder if they had any of those 387 Petes on them...a Crete Meat Fleet Pete!

Here's a very broad-based question that probably doesn't have an exact answer, but I'll take whatever input I get:
Living in SC, if I chose to run the National fleet, how much western running do you suppose I could expect? Would I usually run, say, the eastern half of the US (more or less)? I know the answers will be based upon one's individual experience, and that's fine.
I'm seriously considering making a change in the next 90 days, so any info is appreciated. -
Two thirds, if not more, of Crete's freight is east of I35.48Packard and The Challenger Thank this.

That's pretty much where I run with Schneider right now, and I'm good with that...got a pregnant daughter and a mother-in-law that isn't doing very well, so I'd rather not find myself in WA if I don't have to. Just thinking I can do better than I'm doing right now, even though SNI has been pretty good to me. I'm just burning out on running OH/PA/WI/IN and the like, and only seeing my state of residence when it's time to go home....

thought Id ask again if yalll now of any crete drop lots in the southeastern detroit area or port huron ...thx
-
There are none.

On home time, can you take the truck home or must it be dropped at a terminal?
-
When I drove a company truck, I took the truck home. I live about 100 miles from both the Knoxville and Marietta (Atlanta area) terminals. I've heard a rumor, though, that they've changed that policy. Best to call and ask.Son of a Trucker and The Challenger Thank this.

I have 3 solid years of driving and am looking to leave My current company to get closer to home and for more hometime. How is Crete? Do they do orientation in Ga at the Marietta terminal? Are miles pretty consistent? Decent equipment? I've heard way more good than bad. I'm reading through this thread as well.
