We're going to stop doing that. I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but it turns out, if you put take a flatbed student and put them in a van for a few weeks, they realize that flats sorta suck, and don't want to return to the division. We were literally losing too many flatbed students, so we're going to stop letting them know what hauling a van is like.

It wasn't the running vans that led me back it was the ability to reason! lol I just couldn't make more money or more miles then the others I knew at the same level.

I know that all of the students that I get that are flatbedders, want to pull curtain side when they get done with me. Tarps in this weather suck. Even the curtain side has its drawbacks this time of year. I am home right now nursing a hurt back, from fighting wore out equipment in the cold.

Good, maybe that means their will be more flatbed miles for me, if I ever get to orientation,LOL.
Lived and worked outside in the northeast all my life (well all but about 2 yrs spent in virginia back in the 80's) so no stranger to freezing your ### off and dealing with the mess.

The initial pay differnce doesn't make flatbed very attractive for someone going to Roehl. The more miles and freight options with the van division means you run more miles with van. Those extra miles in van tend to surpass the extra pay of flatbed. With Roehl most flatbedders makes less than thier counterparts in the van division. When all is said and done it is all about miles and keeping the wheels turning.
