My name is Jenifer. My youngest son is starting college this summer, so that means an empty house! I enjoy traveling and so does my boyfriend. We discussed going to truck driving school and getting our CDL. Driving as a team and making money while spending quality time together sounds like a dream come true!

I have held a CDL (passenger) a few years ago....drove a school bus. I loved it! After a while, it's like driving a big car only slower...lol! The material, test, etc. was no problem.

My boyfriend and I travel all across the US with our current jobs. He is a boilermaker and I am a timekeeper for as many as 4 or 5 different companies that work in the oil industry. We work at oil refineries doing shut-downs and turn-arounds. We both have a TWIC card and hope this will be helpful in a truck driving career. I am currently layed-off...have been for 6 months. He is working at the BP plant in Texas City. That job is supposed to last until the end of Feb. We both get as much as 6 months off during the year doing what we do. Makes it hard to keep a budget. Trucking just seems like the perfect career for both of us!

We are looking for a company that will put us through school to get our CDL. We have researched Schneider and PAM. Still haven't made a decision. Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jen

    Welcome to the forum Jenifer.

Do some looking around and you'll see some current threads regarding husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend doing the training thing in order to team down the road.

    Good luck to you folks!
