They don't necessarily give you "attaboys" but there is info on there like if you are able for re-hire, if you passed your drug tests etc...

Ladyk to your husbands question: yes we had an accountant when we were at Central. The are a special company that are all trucking accountants. The name of the company is "ATBS". I think they were out of CO. It was pretty easy after you sign up with them you just put all your info and receipts and such in a big vinyl envelope that they provide and send it off to them. I think they charged $100 quarterly to do out taxes. Might have changed since then. They were definitely good to have. Most accountants and places like H and R block don't know crap about the trucking industry and you really need someone that knows the rules inside and out.

That sucks Cutter! Sometimes it happens. Central will probably make you take a safety course now. Plus you lose your bonus. At least your honest about it. I can't tell you how many other drivers would have tried to play it off or hide the fact they hit it.

DAC is now called Hire right services.
It is an information gathering company for the trucking industry.
Member company's on DAC will put information on drivers that work for them into the DAC system.
This info includes background checks, incidents, accidents, drug test info, and if you are subject to rehire.
Most large carriers are members of DAC, but it is not a regulation. It is just to make it easy on them to gather info on drivers that apply to there company.
So the company you leave will put in info. And the next carrier you apply with will pull info from the system.
Same as a credit company. And they operate under the same regulations as a credit agency.
Meaning that it is easy to get info onto the system, but very hard to get it back off. You have to prove them wrong, and even then it can take a LONG time to get it fixed.

In some cases the information may be accurate but incomplete.
Say as in my case with the scratched trailer.
It said that I damaged a piece of equipment. So I can put a 500 word explanation into the system saying that damage was minimal and that it was not considered worth reporting by owner of the equipment.
This makes things faster, since the company's you apply to will ask when they see it.

DAC/ USIS/ Hire right, is a for profit company. It is not required for any company to use their services. And most smaller company's do not.
The main customers of DAC are large carriers. That have very high turnover and need to check out allot of drivers quickly.

It has been a few years since I drove for Central but they all kinds of different bonuses. Recruiting bonus, idle bonus, safety bonus and a performance bonus. So of these may have changed recently.

I think there is a small fee just to get your license but Central will put you under contract and take a little out each pay check for a certain amount of time. As far as money up front it is very minimal. Maybe some current drivers can chime in and let you know the exact cost and low down of it all. Central is a very good company to drive for. The are small enough to still treat you as a human being yet large enough to keep you busy.

    beachpark1 and lupe Thank this.

I'm pretty sure the only cash out of pocket for the schooling will be about 165 ish (DOT physical and DMV costs)... the 3000 for the schooling - if you stay on with Central you will pay back 1200 (at 100/month) and Central picks up the 1800 - if you leave before that is paid back for any reason (theirs or yours) they you are on the hook for the whole amount... at least that's the way I understand it... talk to a recuiter - they would have the full details about costs.
