I answered an add from Craigslist last week to get more details on the job offered. I got a call from a guy who, from his accent, was most likely from Eastern Europe. We talked for a few minutes. I met all his requirements so he said he'd call me back. About 2 minutes later the phone rings and it's him again. He asked if I knew how to fill out log books and not really catching his meaning at first I responded by saying "yes, I know how to fill out log books. I've never had any violations". So, he then said that he meant do I know how to fill out logs so he (the owner) and I could make money. Ah ha! "You mean do I know how to run two log books?" "Yes" he says, "because you can't make any money driving like the DOT wants you to". I said that I may have "gotten a little creative by a few minutes from time to time", but I'm not interested in running multiple log books.

He said that he'd call back. Haven't heard from him since. It happens, probably more frequently than any of us knows. It's probalby going to be coming to a screeching hault shortly though. GOOD!

I totally agree with you Luzon, any driver that thinks he is fooling the system and making a extra few bucks by double logging or any other method is a fool. If they are involved in any accident it's their fault, no ifs, ands or buts. They could be rear end while stationary and it is their fault because they shouldn't have been there. Your company will run from you like the plague, they will defend themselves but not the dumb driver. The days of old are just that... old. There is not a single load or company that is worth losing my CDL, livelyhood, or going to jail for.
