im just getting into the trucking industry as an ltl driver for con-way but i have to agree with this one with you for the over the roaders. with that many fines maybe places like wal-mart would actually do some work and not make everyone wait for a hour, some people start unloading outside and bring the load up the steep ramp, but then walmart also tries closeing their store so no one else comes in, and forgot on my lost post but they have two loading docks and they keep a pup in one that just sits empty

 

I personally HATE Grocers Supply in Houston. Everyone there has a bad attitude and they take forever to unload - at least the produce people do. I will never understand why it would ever take 5-6 hours to unload a truck. If they give you an appointment and you are on time they should take their product off in a timely manner. Don't even get me started on lumpers - that is the worst scam ever to infect this industry.

I agree on Grocers Supply in Houston. Went there this morning for a 3AM appt. Got there at 2:15, 4AM finally given a door, 7AM finally unloaded, 8AM, driver, your paperwork is ready, and BTW that will be $100.00 unload fee. I had frozen, not produce, but at least its nice to see they are consistant with being incompetant, regardless of the product

10 AM appointment, bumped the dock at 1022AM left with bills in hand 737 PM. I went inside to check with the shipper a few times, one guy try to play the "no speak english" card. You should of heard their english when they got my bill for detention!

 

Why would you post your crime?!? You had me up to the point that you say you sold them and them lied to the court. And who hasn't been hit with an unexpected lumper fee that has been in the business more than a week? Probably cost you more in fuel to home than the 60 bucks.

 

And I will add Walmard to the list. Took a load of mops from Central IL to two DC's. 5 hr unload at first and 4 1/2 on the second.

 

just unloaded today at tightstack in carrollton, ky arrived 30 min prior to 10am appt 45min after arrival another truck showed up and they explained to me they had to load him before they could off load me even though he missed his 8am appt 4-1/2hrs after appt time I was finally unloaded. this caused me to miss connect load out of louisville, ky that paid $1890. so i've lost a day of trucking and earning money. tightstack might as well opened a window and threw $2000 out of it. i wonder if these genious' realize what they've done to me or if they care. my advise if you get a load going to tightstack or any other bad shipper on here that you ask the broker what the detention time pays before you take the load. thnx for reading!!

 

They don't care. And they won't care as long as driver's keep going back. Even as a company driver, I would refuse to return to places that didn't meet my standards. Drivers put up with way too much BS. Companies will respond to the right pressure. Wal-Mart used to take at least 4 hours to unload you. When companies started charging detention pay, it was miraculous how they managed to get it down to two hours, which is still an hour too long. But you have to start somewhere.
