well finially got off the 13. my new dm is really missing with us. 3 times i have excepted a pre plan wrote everything down and he goes in and rechanges the del date and time. so i asked him if everytime i except a a preplan should i wait 15 cause then you go in and change everything and then i have to redo everything. that when i except a plan it is because what i see is what i will do. he had no comment. still trying to figure out the way things are going to be run around here. stuck in lardo tx now thermostate stuck open seat will not hold air windshield wipers quit working bunk heat stopped working secondary tank drains air out after shut down for 20 minutes. but over all the weather is nice. making no money but sure spending it. hope this isn't the way my time with swift is going to go. everyone have a good weekend:biggrin_25521:

First off, take the truck over to the shop and get it fixed.

Second, the DM has nothing to do with preplans or appointment times. That's all on planners. Your DM is your contact with the company at large. He or she can request loads or lean on planners to get you moving, but scheduling is not on them. Your DM was probably nodding and just as frustrated with it as you are.

But get that truck fixed before you get shut down by DOT.

Not doing anything is the perfect time to have that truck in the shop. During my off time, my truck #### near lives in our shop.

if you run the same area's alot you will get to know the planners and the customer service people...

they are who is causing the frustartion.. and with this being the slow time of year for general freight it helps to know ppl..

Alot of times the planners will see a load on the computer. They present it to you. After you commit to it, they commit to it, then they make the appts. The times usually stay the same, but they might change.

Get use to doing all your stuff after the load is dispatched. Don't write down the preplan. Stay on top of truck repairs.

still here in lardo tx been over to the shop twice they say call sunday at 3pm shift change maybe we can get you in. going over there here in a while not calling. on my dm changing my preplan twice i have talked to the planner and she gave the info on the preplan. i said sure then she sent it to me i excepted it then 10 to 15 min later it comes thru different. so that is when i contacted my dm asked what the heck is going on. the del date is sooner 300 or 400 miles more which is fine but i figure my hrs for the other miles del. he said he talked to the planer and had them change it. asked him why i'm new and i would get the freight there before the other del date anyway but gave me time for bad roads ect. no comment. i like having a plan. if i could just get my thermostate fixed and air in seat fixed i can deal with the rest tell i get home. run good for a couple weeks then down for repairs. like a boucing ball. hope someone has a good truck. they keep saying they are going to send us to phonix to get a new truck we are team running in a solo truck. maybe i will get there by 2012. off to the shop to see if i can get in yet. i have a feeling they will say monday now.

Okay, thermostat and seat air won't shut you down at an inspection.

Windshield wipers and dumping 120psi on 20 minutes (more than 3 psi/min on a tractor alone...you're dumping 6) WILL get you shut down. Umm....priorities here?

I blew a line on my seat (caught the air line with the seat frame scissors). 6 ppm loss. I stuck a screw in the line, wrapped it with duct tape (now 2 ppm loss) and limped 25 miles to a TS. 50 cents in parts and 5 minutes cured the leak (self repair). Since it cost me a load that night ($80 deadhead vs $150 load), I carried spare parts for internal airlines after that one.

    Live and learn.

I figure that is what this first year trucking is all about...living it and learning from it. Then some real decisions can be made after that on how to make some loot at this game.
