I just did a rough calculation.

    Annual salary: 35000.
    70hours a week. 52 weeks in a year.

    35000/(70*52) = $9.6 per hour

    Is this about right?

In all reality many otr drivers don't make that much,.......

I know some do very well,...

But on average it has become a sad existence,...

Where did you come up with that number? The log book tells you that you can only work 70 hours a week but in the real world you work longer then that. It comes out to about 100 hours a week. And if you include living where you work, then it's even longer. Just the truth.

well that depends on exp... figer 0.35 per mile and 130k a year paid miles and you get 45,500 a year then you get detention pay and lay over pay and unload pay and possible fuel bonus... you should be 47,000 a year... 13.58 an hour but then take about 4 weeks out of that for home time and you get 13.98 an hour and if you get up their to 0.42 per mile you get 54,600 a year plus the other stuff and get 56,000 a year you come up with 16.66 an hour soo it all depends on where you at i hope this helps you out

The truth is if you were paid minimum wage and put the hours in that we do, you would make more then a truck driver.
