i actually was going to respond to this guys posting this morning, but i had to get to work...i was pretty much going to say the same exact things you guys have said....
lying or hiding facts is NOT a good idea as you two pointed out. however there will always be those that brag about what they did...
and forget about DAC...???
HHmmmm..... the information on a person is NOT forgotten in the DAC data base for at least 7 years...
try getting a job after that.....
as said, "if they do not ask, do not talk", "if they do ask, tell the truth"....
better to see where the chips fall where they may by telling the truth, over telling a lie or hiding information....
sadly too, there will ALWAYS BE those here on these boards that will give out terrible advice.....we can only hope those of us with good advice catch that mis-information/terrible advice and straighten it out.
Yes, I have a felony record

maybe i did luck out, but before i bought my own truck, i job-jumped a ton as a company driver. never had a problem. it's not like one company let me slide and i based my opinion off of that.
i don't know about the nursing thing, all i know is if you lie on a job app for a driver, which is what we were discussing, you wont go to jail.
as i said in my post, everyone would jump all over me on here. who cares? if you are having trouble getting a job due to your background, and you can get a stat in the career, why not? i got lied to a bunch as a company driver, i think most people do. if it's ok for them to lie to me about miles, detention, whatever, I guess it ok for me,too. did what i had to do to get a paycheck and experience.kenn2632 Thanks this. -
people on here love to give holier-then -thou advice all the time. i did it my own way on a lot of things people said couldn't be done, and it worked out. I was also told not to buy my own equipment with just a couple grand to my name, thats a big no-no too on here. that was almost 2 years and 2 trucks ago. if you want something bad enough, go make it happen. if you know what your doing or think you have a good idea, do it. if you fail, try again. -
We don't even know what his felony is for... I really don' tknow how transparent Trucking Company's are with job bouncers... But outside of trucking, even a Target will question why so and so has gone through X jobs in X months. -
next too, YES, YES the trucking companies can and WILL lie to drivers, but we cannot fire them or "DAC" them for it either, now can we...??? all one can do is up and quit.....again, YOU NEED to realize that these are company drivers seeking work, where you are nice and comfy sitting in a truck YOU OWN and where YOU DON'T have such worries......if an aspiring driver lies on his application, or with holds information, and when it gets found out and IT WILL BE FOUND OUT, he will be fired, and
DAC'd"..you seem to have forgotten where YOU started from....
if i owned a business, i wouldn't hire such a person either.....UNLESS that person was RETIRED and only wanted "mad money" to keep busy.....for a few hours per week, which would mean, "part time, no benefits, no holidays"......i'd be saving , money then.....anybody else...??? go away, i don't need you.... -
Most people on here try to give advice that with help and not hurt them. Your advice is dangerous and could hurt a driver after he or she has invested tons of money. Like I said you got lucky and I'm not so sure you're set as you may think. What's going to happen to you when you reach retirement? I don't know you and you may be set for life but giving the advice you have given will not be good for a driver in the long run. You have an abnormal career history and anyone that wants to drive for a career doesn't need those kind of marks to reach the better jobs. You may be lucky enough to have alot of money stashed away for times that are bad and I hope you do but most drivers need a company to step in with insurance and retirement when the time comes. So why chance it? -
I posted a question on here looking for helpful answers from experienced truckers but there's not much help on here at all. As I stated before I have a checkered past too, with nothing that would put me on Americas most wanted list. OK so even with my past indiscrepancies they are at least 26 years old and I looked up DAC online which seems to be no more than a driving record background check.
Big deal mines perfect, 2 :
Federal FCRA -- Basics of Employment Background Checks
The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) sets the national standard for employment background checks. (15 U.S.C. §§1681 et seq.) Even in states like California that have laws governing background checks, employers have to follow the FCRA. State laws may give more rights to workers, but they cannot take away from the basic rights of the FCRA.
The FCRA covers "consumer reports" issued for multiple purposes, and this is a source of confusion to many individuals. In addition to covering credit checks, the FCRA also governs employment background checks for the purposes of "hiring, promotion, retention, or reassignment." To learn more about credit reporting.
The federal FCRA applies only when an employment background check is prepared by an outside screening company. When a third party compiles a report, the FCRA requires (1) that you are notified that an investigation may be performed, (2) that you are given the opportunity to consent, and (3) that you are notified if information in the report is used to make an "adverse" decision about you.
But under the FCRA, if the employer does not hire a third party to conduct the investigation, but compiles the report itself, the provisions of the FCRA do not apply. However, California law does require some notice and access if the employer conducts its own report. This is discussed in the Part 4 below.
When an outside company prepares the report, the FCRA requires the employer to:
Give you notice on a separate document that a report may be required.
Obtain your permission.
Get your specific permission if medical information is requested.
Give a specific notice if your neighbors, friends, or associates will be interviewed about your "character, general reputation, personal characteristics, or mode of living." This is called an "investigative consumer report" under the FCRA.
Under the FCRA, negative information usually cannot be reported after seven years. Exceptions apply for bankruptcy information (10 years) and jobs or insurance policies over a certain dollar amount. The FCRA says that criminal convictions can be reported indefinitely.
Criminal convictions. Unlike the indefinite standard of the FCRA, criminal convictions in California can only be reported up to seven years. Convictions cannot be reported if a full pardon has been granted.
The employer must give you a "pre-adverse action notice" along with a copy of the background report before an adverse action is taken. For job applicants, an "adverse action" means the employer has decided not to hire you based on the information in the report. For existing employees, an adverse action might be termination. Or it could be a decision to not promote you, or to demote you.
3. Has Mat does not share your info with trucking companies and the only way a trucking companie can find out about criminal histories 20 years old is for them to have a special waver from the FBI which is very ! un likely.
If I do get hired I do plan to difulge my 26 year old DUI just incase it mite keep me out of Canada in a Big Rig. But as I said before I've been in and out of Canada at least 75 times with NO! problems ever.
Yeah I think your speed reading skills skiped over the fact that I stated quote" I'll admit to the DUI which alone should be sufficient to keep me out of Canada"
Rerun: Dude I hope your kidding cause other wise your seriously way to sensitive. Chill
Gahauler: #### right I's special bub so I's come first and dont forget it.
LOL Man you guy's are some serious cry babies aren't ya.Last edited: Feb 2, 2011
bigrigjones Thanks this. -
Being bonded previously means very little.
The fact that you've been to canada in your private car means little.
If you pass haz-mat, and you will, means very little.
But if they catch you in canada, with your record, you'll regret it.
Felony stolen property, DWI, plus other misdemeanors !!!!!
That is nothing to laugh at.............. -
did you even STOP to think OR consider that maybe there were OTHER threads for us to respond to...??
did you even STOP to think OR consider that maybe your thread fell to a lower position on the boards and was overlooked....
this from you, i find to be quite offensive, "I posted a question on here looking for helpful answers from experienced truckers but there's not much help on here at all."
we are here "volunteering OUR TIME to be helpful", and ######, WE ARE......and WE ARE GOOD TOO ######.....too bad you DIDN'T TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION the points i made.......before you spewed out your rant/rave towards ALL OF US GOOD FOLK.....
good luck to you.....good bye....wicked, GasHauler and Buckeye 'bedder Thank this. -
My thoughts exactly. After 2 posts he expects to be the first priority. How many times have we all said do not lie on a job application and do not give information unless asked? ALL of his questions have been asked and answer numerous times and he's just too lazy to find the answers.
Rerun8963 Thanks this.
