i got lucky, i had an uncle that was #1 driver in the pumping department and he seen that they were training someone for the mixers so he talked to hr about getting me in to train.
i did all thier training and even got to take my class b test in a mixer

the hr guy told me up front that if the trainer said i wasnt going to make it i would be out the door

got 10 1/2 years with them now so i guess i made it

Thank you all for the replies.

    =)

BTW, do you have to have a Tanker Cert to handle Cement Mixers?

I am too, doesn't it move/shift as you drive? (I've never driven with wet cement, let alone a rig for that matter, just speculation)

it depends on how wet you have it
a 1 or 2 inch slump is pretty much dry so it dont move much

but a 5 or 6 inch slump is like soup and does move alot

I drive a tri-axle dump. I haul mostly coal and limestone into power plants. Summer time we start to haul sand and stone to construction sites, sometimes we do blacktop too. It pretty cool going into the mines, and power plants. Watching the rock trucks run all over the place, plus the size of all the equipment they use. I get loaded by a 992 Cat at one mine, it takes two buckets and I have 27ton on.
