338-- How long after you applied did they get back to you? Did you have to call them to get the ball rolling? I applied 2 days ago, and just wondering if I should just call them or give them another day or 2. Thanks

TallGuy - yes, call them about two days after you apply (shows interest). It takes about two to five days to approve an application though, so you could wait a few more days - but not longer than a working week.
Also, on a continence of a previous post of mine, retook the combination test today - passed. ($10 to the DMV - but hey, what'a gonna do?)
counting down the days!
TallGuy50 Thanks this. -
Thanks. I'll give them a call tommorrow. Good luck, keep up posted. -

SO, I talked to the recruiter. Apparently Millis will not use 3rd party verifiers to check previous employment. I assume because there is probably a small fee for using them. Since my previous employer uses "The work number" for employment verification, I need to get my last 3 years of W-2's to send in. My employer uses W2 Express for our W-2's...Easy enough, I go online to order my 3 years previous W-2's. Now I need to pay $20.00 a piece for my W-2's
....What a pain in the ### !!!!!!!!!!! Maybe I can just pay Millis for using the work number...I't probably alot less then I need to pay for my W-2's.

Vbob- I'm guessing your prior service yourslef? If so, thanks for serving. Yes, you are correct - I have 'retired' from AD almost a decade ago; however, my lawyer ('officer') didn't hold up to standards, and I got a bit of a bum rap - seperation 'Juliet Kilo Mike' - so I can't use the benifits (fairly sure).
TallGuy - go to the SS office in your town/state. They can print off W-2's for free, though you might want to bring a lunch. Just have to ask for specific years and it's printed there while you wait. Hope this helps.TallGuy50 Thanks this. -
Well yesterday - I just couldn't help myself. I had to spend some more money, but I hope it's well spent.
Bought a High-vis rain suit (coveralls and jacket combo) at TSC for $37. I also bought a level 2-3 short shirt DOT approved high-vis vest for $6 and some new boxer-breifs (never warn this type, thought I'd give them a try) 6 pair for $9 and a three bars of soap (OLAY - my skin is picky) for .75 a pop from a discount outlet store. They also had a High-vis winterized two peice outfit for about $55 but I was out of money and I know that the rain suit I purchased will fit over my winter jumper suit I already have. Now I just need to dig out from the attic my galoshes and my rain suit is complete. Also - Home Depot has a flashlight combo set for $30 - one tripple 'D' LED Mag-Lite and a mini-Mag LED. Look for the packing that has the mini-mag with four custom settings (Bright, Dim, Pulsing, AND S.O.S.); it also comes with a fitted rubber gromet for the top that keeps it from rolling on surfaces. I also got a water heater (1 qt.) at the Goodwill for $10. I'll be using it for my french press (next on the shoping list), hot chocolate, roman noodles, and my fav. oatmeal (although I really prefer the non-instant). Absoutly spent now - ($300) from my recent car sell towards getting ready... and another $50 to myself for some gas/eats/six-pack/and a movie ticket (TRON! 3-D). I have a job tomorrow that's going to put about $40 - 50 back in my pocket; the remainder of my monies are going to school ($400) and food for four weeks ($200 - cause that's about all I have; hope it lasts)
Just wondering something now, does anyone use a hardhat while examining the undercarrage of the trailers or while hooking/unhooking? I have a couple from previous jobs and I'm kinda tall at 6' so I bang my head on things from time to time. Espically if I'm crouching under things and trying to move about while doing/performing tasks. -
I don't think a hard hat will be necessary. And to be honest I have yet to use my rain suit. I myself am not out of the truck, hooking up, opening doors, etc.. long enough to actually need a rain suit. My winter jacket does just fine. But that's just me. I think they suggest things to cover all things, but found alot is not necessary. Just my .02

I suppose it's the scouting way still kick'n inside... I'd like to be prepaired for a tire blow-out in the monsoon if needed; and I hate being wet for extended periods of time (willingly walking in the rain - fun). Or for that matter, any emergency in the wet - maybe not my own? - you never know.
-
You most likely won't change the tire. No tools or enough air pressue.
What did you do in the hair farce? I spent 11 years in munitions and decided there had to be a better way of life. There was.
i spoke with millis a few weeks ago, couldn't get into the feb.14 class (only 6 students per class) so i'm going to Katlaw starting on monday 2/7. I did not want to wait until mar 14. I'm bored and ready to do something.
