I am an O/O who has a truck and a driver and we are seeking a van load operation with a stable company with good miles and above average pay. Preferable smaller in size, and somewhat flexible. Here is the kicker...the truck is a '98, but in great mechanical shape and appearance wise, it looks like an '05. Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
PS. Hauling within the US only.

I'm confused. -
You are definitely going to have to look for a small mom and pop carrier. None of the larger companies are going to run you with a truck that old. Don't get me wrong, I personally highly recommend older trucks, however the mega-carriers don't. Try checking out this website. Just type in where you live and will give a list of carriers in you area who are hiring.

You can also try this site. It gives you a very extensive list of just about every company in your area.

Also wouldn't hurt to try the OOIDA website. Good luck to you!

I own the truck, but I have a driver in it who is a US citizen. Sorry for the confusion there. Thank you for the info provided, I will take a look there now.

Is it a US registered truck? I only ask because I thought non US trucks could only haul into the US and haul straight back out, ie couldn't pick up a load in the US and deliver in it the US?
-
The truck is currently registered as a canuck truck since I am signed on with an Alberta based carrier. When the truck is leased to the new carrier in the US then it will be US registered and everything within the US is then legal.....from what I know and understand anyways. I have something pending with Atlantic & Pacific Freightways Inc. out of Vancouver, WA...do you guys/gals happen to know anything about them? Good or bad? They are willing to take my old truck on there and they are all flatbed paying 77% of gross with co. trailer. I think this is not bad. Recruiter gal says that we can do 3500 - 4000 every 2 weeks after deductions.
Dryver Thanks this. -
Recruiter gal says that we can do 3500 - 4000 every 2 weeks after deductions. ???
Why would she quote you every two weeks? You should get paid every week! If you can bring home after fuel and everything 2,000 a week its not a bad deal but companies will tell you anything these days. Good Luck!! -
Well thats kinda the odd part. They only pay on the 15th and 30th of every month. I asked her for a realistic figure and she said 3500 or more after deductions (take home). I figured even if its 3000 to start then its worth a shot, and if it dont work out then move on to the next...

yea thats not the worst it could be but 1,500 a week is kinda low in my opinion. Only because you take 1500 then minus insurance and money to put away for maintiance fund and tag, road taxes ect...... but thats just how i run my truck i set aside a little every week so im not hit in the face when tag and road taxes are do. they seem to come around like 3 times a year lol it seems that way sometimes. But anyway good luck you sound like you have a idea of how things should be and money you need to bring home to make your business profitable. Be Safe!!!
