Having been working outside (for hours at a time) in the middle of the night with below zero windchills lately.

Yeah.... I'm ready for the winter to be over.

:biggrin_2559:I was driving in my car across the ice bridge that goes across the river earlier today, (we have ice roads that go across the river in winter when the ferries can no longer run). Even though I know the ice is thick enough I never want to be the first one across at the begining of the season or the last one across in the spring.
I still get a little nervous going across the ice whether it is in the car or snowmobile, every year near the end of the season some stupid ice fisher takes a chance with a vehicle on the ice and goes through.

was -32 celcius at home yesterday morning when I got up, the pipes in the shower were frozen,

Not complaining though, I love the cold and I love winter, the more snow the better, there is so much to do outside in the winter around here, plus I don't mind working outside in the cold,

Foodservice delivery is brutal this time of year. Unloaded 35k of product in Indianapolis this past tuesday. Forget the workboots, I need some ice skates! Try pushing a dolly w/ 300 pounds uphill on a sheet of ice for 30-50 feet. Gets old real fast...

I'd dodged the bullet Tuesday night running in that big blizzard thru Chicago... I figure it was the second worst I've been in since '72. 60 MPH winds and snowing 3" per hour... took 9 1/2 hours from Coloma, WI to Porter, IN...

There WAS a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow though.... I found a parking space at the TA!!!!

Kudos to you man.,but what did you do,drive around barricades?? I mean,I was a ways down from Chicago(the worst hit?)-in Effingham,Ill.,and I watched the National Guard roll by blocking access to the Interstate...

No barricades anywhere... not many snow plows, either. The worst roadblock I saw were about a dozen FL drivers stopped IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD when there windshield wipers froze up...
