General Question.
I know I have to pass the written exam, and the DOT Physical Exam.
Been all over the WA DOT website (And Department of Licensing) and have found forms for a medical waiver to get/keep a CDL.
BUT.
What do I do for the Physical Exam? What I mean is, where do you take it? Can I just go to any Doctor in Washington, and get it done with? What's the whole thing to it?

Call around to Dr.s in your area and see who does DOT physicals and what they charge. From what I hear they can go as low as 50.00. I called one and they wanted 250.00LongRoadTrucker Thanks this.

many times "walk-in clinics" do the DOT exam....walk on in...and ask....sometimes an appointment may be required, as "up here" i often have to call for an appointment....but sadly, even when i do that, and go for the physical, i still have to wait...so why the appointment, i'll never really know......
costs have a wide range, again, inquire with-in....
your personal doctor can do it as well, but his office may not have the forms, so you bring them with you.Flying Finn and LongRoadTrucker Thank this. -
Getting a DOT physical is pretty simple,,BUT,,your talking about a waiver?
Waivers can be difficult to say the least,,it involves alot more than the DOT physicals and may involve more than 1 type of exam and doctors performing the exams,,depends on the reasons for the need of a waiver.LongRoadTrucker Thanks this. -
I didn't see any mention whatsoever about a waiver.
Concentra or any other occupational health clinic should be able to give you an exam. No idea what the cost will be.LongRoadTrucker Thanks this. -
Before you fork over your own money for a DOT physical, find out for sure which company you're going for. Usually, the company pays that bill. And, if you already know you're going to need a waiver, then you definately want to talk with the company first. Communication is huge in this job and that goes for finding your first job too.

CDL schools REQUIRE a DOT physical before the student attends(which i do believe he is going to school.??).....this is also a DOT requirement the schools must follow.....so he has to have one now....at his expense.LongRoadTrucker and Flying Finn Thank this.

RR is correct. It is the same in Canada. Here, just about any walk in clinic can do them and most doctors offices. I go to a minor emerg clinic that has a doctor and nurse dedicated to medicals. They have the forms and know the regs so they are better than my family doc.
The training school requires the medical done before you start up here as well.LongRoadTrucker Thanks this. -
if you have one, call your fmaily Dr., they can probably do your DOT for you, and may typically be more leniant on your test since they will know your history. I've had the DOT Doc. tell me one thing or want me to do something else and my fmaily Dr. jus tlaughed at them.
LongRoadTrucker Thanks this. -
I don't need a waiver, I was saying those were the only DOT physical forms I could find online.
I'll be calling around concerning the DOT Physicals. My doc may be able to do it, I'm not sure. But I'll definitely be asking around.
Thank you all very much for the info! =)
