He was supposed to come home this weekend... but he was late on his last drop because he had been up sick ( throwing up) all night a few nights ago... He called first thing in the morning and told them he was behind and why and they said it was fine... and yet called him the morning of his drop and b*****d at him for being late... He was only a few hours late, not bad for being sick all night if you ask me....
So back to his hometime, apparently they punish drivers for being sick because they told him to forget the hometime and sent him on another load! They sent Him to the town his pick-up was in without contact info of where his pick-up was... he sat at a rest area for 2 hours before they got him the info and of course by then the place was closedHe had to spend the night, when he still had 8 hours drive time, what a freakin waste of time!! He called em this morning and quit... and i dont blame him one bit... he offered to take this last trip for em but they asked him to just pickup the load and bring it back to the yard, fine... the pay isnt worth the BS!!
i get to go get him at the yard tonighti cant wait to tell the kids!!!

Well I can't say that I blame you for your opinion. Believe me if they treat me the same as your husband, I won't be there either. It seems to me that all trucking companies, yes I mean all of the larger one's, treat they're drivers poorly. I think it just goes with the territory. I won't take disrespect, Period! I hope this one works better than some of the others for me but we will see. Thanks for the info.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

i worked for them for about a week!!!! about orientation is about right 3 day $100 bucks and no matter how much experience you have you have to go with a trainer!!! paper work and to see how well you tarp and how long it takes you!!!! most all loads you haul will have to be tarped even in summer time!!!! no butts!!!!! and you have to fight for your tarp pay to boot!! company is owned by some drivers and know what a driver goes through but it is the all mighty $ buck that drives this company and yes that mean you basically pay them to work for them!!!!
ARE NOT ALL COMANIES THAT WAY THESE DAY???
PUT IN ALL THOSE HOURS AT LITTLE OR LOW PAY

I have been employed with COTC for over 5 years, and I have never fought for tarp pay. As far as tarping goes, stop your b******g, suck it up, and do your job! If you don't want to tarp a load, don't pull a flatbed. If all you crybabies put your skirts on, maybe you could find an office job! From a true blue flatbedder...TJohnston Truck 256.

Wow, I'm not quite sure who your'e responding to but I am quite sure you didnt make any friends with your comments, but youre used to that anyway arent you. I have not been with COTC for a year but not because it was hard work. They are a decent company and I have been asked several times to go back to work for them. Aside from that I get $20.00 to bump a dock. Unless you have received a raise thats not much less than you get to tarp in the rain and snow. Oh and ###### have you seen the drop in flatbed freight?
I really dont like to respond in such a manner but you sound like such a pompos ### that you bring out a side in me that I normally keep to my self. You actually sound like Bob Smith, who I'm sure thought you were just a piece of #### truck driver.
So take your 90's peterbilt and stick it under a tarp or somewhere else that the sun doesnt shine because no one really wants to hear how tough your are. You sound like a keyboard warrior to me,Toughguy............ -
First let me apologize for my last post. I apologize to TJohnston, the other members, the staff and Bob Smith. This is not the place for that kind of attack, no matter the excuse. Flat bedding is a tough sport. I lost twenty pounds the first month I did it. Its not for everybody. I though COTC was a very good company, with nice equipment and staff. I never had to fight for any pay. So once again I apologize to you TJohnston. I wish you and all flatbedders good luck. I shouldnt have gone off on you like that. I'm the one who sounded like a keyboard warrior.
cdcii Thanks this. -
I am wondering why he necro'd a year old thread? 01.19.2008*shrug*
Good of you to say you are sorry though. -
I find it curious that COTC will report a driver on DAC but wont put their name on the list to allow drivers to report on them,MAYBE they dont want potential drivers to get the scoop first
-
Bad Company, Control freaks, Stay away from them 20 months with them.
-
No, not all companies are that way.
The flatbed company I drive for is pretty good.
Been with them for just over 2 years.
My first year I logged over 130,000 miles, and could have had 150,000, but I wanted to be home a few times, and they got me there when I asked them to.
Although the tarp pay is not much, I have been paid for every tarp I have unrolled.
And not every load has to be tarped.
As far as load pick ups and drops, after the load is assigned to me, I make the appointments myself, and there never has been a problem. If I ever have a question I can either call of send a message via QualComm and I get an answer promptly.
I have been given a raise every year on my anniversary, so I guess I must be doing OK.
If there is ever a question about my pay, or reimbursements, I call the gal in payroll, and she is always very nice, and if I was "shorted", it is always on the next check.
It sounds to me like COTC needs to get their act together.
