Well I took the KW I bought last week out today to get some fuel and such and I seem to have some steam or smoke coming out of the breather tube. The thing is its one of them days that's not below freezing but your breath and gas powered car exhaust steams like crazy. SO Long and short of it i cant tell is this normal or no? I put a vent tube style on my 7.3L pick up and it smokes about the same and I've been told this is normal for a 7.3 but i know nothing about CATs this is my first one. Truck has 450K miles on it
New truck may have gotten screwed?

If you are referring to the crankcase vent they normally will exhaust some...define some.

Probably normal. What motor is in it. It is probably normal blow-by. I bet you are worried about nothing.
If in doubt take it back and have it checked out.
I drove a C-15 cat that seemed to have too much blow-by. It would leave a small oil spot under the blow-by tube every-night. The motor never failed and is still running today 650,000 miles later.panhandlepat Thanks this. -
Want me to get a video ?

just your blowby--nothing to get worried about, unless its really marking its spot--then you can get it measured
but generally when it is rebuild time its puffing alot -
I took a video its up loading to youtube now. The long and short of it is I bought this truck with 450K on it for $6500 its a day cab it needs some work, Like a couple new air bags, oil leak behind the injection pump when its cold, I'm going to paint it. Tires are so so. I need to recut all the aluminum, cab mount needs welding. I'm good at alot of thing and can handle everything I listed but I'm not in the position to rebuilt a motor....

Waiting on the video. There are two kinds of trucks you can buy for $6500.
1. A good old reliable truck.
2. A money pit.
Hopefully,you got #1. -
well I dont plan on putting thousands and thousands or miles on it just to use on are farm and maybe haul some dirt with a dump trailer.

Looks like normal blow-by.
