oh wow. sounds like you having a rough tie. yes hazmat cert is reimbursed by company (first time only not renewals) the running out of fuel should be on the trainer as you were a student. but why would they charge you for running out of fuel? i dont get that one. the physical thing is 100 bucks. its 50 for physical and 50 for the drug screening.

The trainer i had was awesome. i couldn't ask for a better, nicer guy. Taught me alot, bought me lunch everyday, treated me like a equal and not a dumb as student. As long as you listen to your trainer you will be fine. If you aren't learning anything from your trainer or you feel something could change then do not hesitate to contact dispatch and tell them whats going on. ive been driving with them for over 6 months now and i am pleased so far. the pay is decent (for starter pay with no experience), no problems getting loads (except on weekends), and home time is always spot on. just communicate with dispatch and you will be fine. don't hesitate to ask questions with your trainer or dispatch or hell even other drivers. id rather have you ask a 5 second question and get a answer then have you drive around a 80000 pound wrecking ball guessing.

ccolvin, my husband is a 25 year veteran out here.
The company we are currently with, seem to be trying to "starve" us out. We are one of only 3 L/P's left at this company, seems they want the "newb's" as company drivers, as they don't pay them as much as they do the L/P's.

Hubby is considering going to CRST, but we would like some honest evaluations of the company before committing. He was with CRST, years ago, and his experience with them then was positive. (He left because of personal issues in his life.)
He's been away from them for so long that he is no longer in their system data.

Anyway, is what we have read on their website correct, as far as lease purchase, load boards, amount of miles weekly, etc.?
We don't require much home-time, as we have family all over the United States, and don't really call any place but the truck, "home". We just ask for time off every 3 months or so to visit various family in various states. (BTW, we are NOT a team...I simply travel with him)

Sorry this has kinda "run on", but will appreciate any answers you can give us.

    I'm Chris

Wow this thread has more positive comments about CRST than any I've read here or any other forum. Glad to see that, mostly because this thread has more recent posts than others I've seen.

I'm sure, as I've seen written on these truckers forums many times, that trucking is what you make of it. I guess the same could be said for most things in life, right? Well I plan to approach it with a good attitude, a good sense of humor, and the adaptability I've always felt I possess. I don't foresee any major problems because of what company I'm working for. I spent the better part of two years in a Navy rack on an aircraft carrier so the cramped part of trucking shouldn't be a big problem for me at all.

There are many bad things written on these boards about CRST, but then again, go take a look at the bad company forum on ANY truckers message board and TRY to find a company that's NOT listed there. What I take from this is there will always be someone who complains about something. I keep reading the same things over and over, but about different companies. So, I take most stuff I read with a grain of salt. It's refreshing though to read positive things for a change.

Is there anyone else reading this thread who's going to school soon in Fontana? If so, I'd like to hear from you. I'm 49, clean, married, love rock & roll and showers. I'm very interested in the 20/10 thing. So if anyone is going to school soon and starting to worry about finding a co-driver, drop me a line at my email address, which is asphaltpilot at the place where the yahoo's hang out. Let's talk. Or just send me a PM here, whichever is easier!

p.s. I just got "Cookin' on the Go" in the mail for my lunchbox stove and am pretty excited about cooking on the road LOL.

We know that ALL the companies have their problems, & you are correct that we will find complaints about all of them on this forum. The biggest complaint we have though is a very major one; & that is the problems we are having with them reimbursing $$ owed to us, & the 2 days a week they pay. We scan all our stuff by the cut-off time, & still on the next pay day we are not getting paid the right amount. They seem to withhold $$ until they WANT to pay us what is owed for our hard work. (Kinda hard to pay our bills when we are counting on that $$!). The reimb. $$ has been owed since almost day 1 of starting this job (4 months ago now). They ignore our calls, & our qual com msgs to mgmt! Everyone says they are a "training" company, so get your training & move on. I am tired of being screwed out of our money!:biggrin_25513:

I'm from Maine and looking at trucking companies. I was checking out CRST and saw on their hiring map that drivers from Maine could only be hired with OPS approval, why is this, and how can I improve my chances of being approved?
