I can understand trucking companies forgiving past infractions that aren't related at all to truck driving.

But I can't understand why they'd want to forgive an offense that's specifically prohibited in the trucking industry, that you committed while driving a truck.

Why keep beating a dead horse? Think about moving on, not moving back to where you were before.

Dude. Seriously? Does the term "accountability" mean anything?
Think about it. Times are tough on us as it is. There is a stigma surrounding trucking and drivers which makes life harder on us due to public image and the way the govt. beats the daylights out of us with rules and restrictions that are placed upon us because, in many cases, not all, but many, somebody did something stupid. Many, if not most of us are proud of what we are and what we do.
Then you and others like you come in, admit to being part of the problem, cry about how you aren't getting a fair shake because you screwed yourself by imbibing in illegal substances and getting caught doing so and when those of us that take pride in our industry come down on you, you whine that we are being too hard on you and aren't giving you a fair chance to redeem yourself.

Want to make life better for you and get folks to respect you more? Fix yourself, get back on top, get back in the game and then come back in here and tell your story. Something like: "I was an idiot and messed things up for me and mine, but I turned myself around, took my lumps and paid my dues and I'm here to tell you about it and offer advice to other idiots that jacked themselves up due to lack of self-control."

no one is perfect at all we all have made mistakes, as you have admitted you have. if you have quit doing drugs and are going to church etc That is great and that is a good direction to go, if you really want to drive again it will be awhile before any company would accept you. I do know that before any company hired you I am sure you would have to go through some type of drug rehab program, of course some of the smaller companys my not require this. i do apologize for my previous post it was a little harsh, and if you have given up drugs for good congrats to you no reason to feel like crap, you should feel good. do you understand why maybe these drivers are being mean to you? these drivers are out here everday and have to follow the strictest rules and regulations ever. why do you think drivers are randomly drug tested so much ? or if there is a accident one of the first things they have to do is take a drug test ?

Everyone deserves a second chance once they realize the error of their ways and have changed for the better. Everyone deserves a chance to better themselves. The only thing is that in life, your sometimes only given one chance at certain things and once that chance is gone, it's best (for your peace of mind), not to linger on what could have been, and just, hopefully, move on to better things.

Now, I know for certain that you would have to go through school again. But as far as anyone giving you a chance on the other..well you would probably be best to just call around and see for yourself. Perhaps you could go through a truck driving school and, as someone else stated, try to find a small outfit that will give you a go once you graduate.

Good luck and just remember, everyone makes mistakes, but a smart person learns and doesn't repeat. ~Rebels Angel~

well being able to do what YOU WANT TO DO on your days off, got you sheet-canned......

that'll teach you what you SHOULD NOT be doing on your day's off, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WILL EFFECT YOUR JOB....

you did drugs, you got caught, you got fired.....i think the PERFECT sequence of events.........

you epitomize the dumbness/ignorance of the new generation of truckers......that we simply can do with out on our roads.....

Not if it's illicit. I don't care what your stance is on the whole drug issue, it is illegal. Period. By your logic, you should be able to rob banks on your days off away from the truck and it's okay. Nope. It's illegal and it bit you in the #####.

Want a second chance? Leave the "I can do what I want" attitude behind and accept that, if you want to drive, dope becomes a thing of your past. If you can't, stay away from the industry.
