Hi,
Im interested in purchasing a truck soon, but for now I am in the process of researching.
My question is, what is the advantages and disadvantages of having a automatic/Manual transmission? Also, which would you recommend, 13/15/18 spd, and why?
Thank you
"Lord,
Help me carry this heavy load,
Keep my trailer straight on this road,
Lead, guide and direct,
and oh, what the heck,
Keep diesel in the tank, money in the bank,
and rubber side down. Amen!"

it is better to have a manaul
autos are a little pricey to fix I have heard. -
i would want a manual

i would think and auto would be great in the city.
but id think id cost ya big for that overhaul -
Unless you have a dedicated special haul, go with a 9 or10 manual. Your choice of auto's is an Allison, which is just like your car but overheats a lot and needs constant rebuilds; or the autoshift manuals which just float the gears for you but still have a clutch which means you're still pushing a clutch in stop and go traffic.

The automated shift transmissions are getting better but they can be as someone said pricy to repair. I would prefer manual, at least a 10 speed direct, no overdrive. I haven't driven any automated transmissions yet, but firendss of mime do and they say they can take them or leave them.

to repair i think truckers should take a class in transmision work. or basic diesle machanac
