Just finished my 4th week driving truck and trailer [first time] for a building material yard. the state of the cabover freightliners is scary. they park them down the street when osha comes a'callin. My slip seater failed its leakdown horribly just today, and mgmt. is more worried about me responding on their radio with eta's than repairing these old rattlers. the broken speedos read over 5 million miles on the odos. the old forklifts we drag behind leak hydro on my boot, the ground, etc., and are extra difficult to operate being so worn out. no parking brake, one has no brakes unless you pumpem 5 times and they all smoke like an old ice cream truck.[forklifts] I get broken down at least once a week and this leak down is sick. I watch the air needle fall like a second hand on a clock when I'm at a signal holding the pedal. wondered why the lo air buzzer comes on sitting at signals.
on one the buzzer is on all the time, making me ignore it. that's a habit I don't need...mgmt doesnt like me telling them what to do about it either. they tell me to keep the pretrip form free of unsatisfactory items, and they will get to them in time.
this company is a robin williams movie.:biggrin_25513:

Eh what a bummer. Well hang in there for awhile and get a few miles and experience under your belt and keep your eyes open for that better opportunity. Good luck

One stop at a scale house will fix all of your problems with this truck.
You should not be lying on the forms for the company period.
I know that you are a newbiee probaly and do not want to cause a rift with anyone but it is better to cause that rift rather kill someone with loosing the all of the air and brakes locking up on you thus the little 4 wheeler gets under your trailer probaly killing all in the car.
If you kill someone or seriuosly hurt someone while driving a vehicle that you know is unfit for the road you will have a harder time getting a job that is if you are lucky not in prision.
The company yea they want to not list the things on the report because they will hang you out to dry if somethimg happens.
The company will say look at these reports the driver never reported any problem with our truck and then it will be just you on the hook you will have no proof that there was something wrong that you reported telling them just verbaly is nothing.
You need to find a better company one that will atleast fix the truck.

and just had a rift over a bald tire I wouldnt sign off on. A senior driver told me that I had to sign off on it so he could drive it...today as a matter of fact. He said that the boss waits until the tire fails and gets a road service to come out and fix it.....If I get that rig again Im gonna arrive at the destination and puncture it for a road call. better sooner than later. got my apps out this week...see what I catch.

What you are doing is crazy. Why risk your life and your future for this company? Get yourself the little FMCSR pocketbook at a truck stop and start failing the truck for any or all of the unsafe items. Measure the treade depth on the tires and refuse to drive them. Better yet make a list and take it to the boss and tell him to fix it or you go to the state. If they fire you you've got a case there too. Just do your research and make sure you're right. You don't need a bad record just starting out. And If you need the job look for one that can hold you over and then stick it to the people that want to risk your life.
