Koch does the Best Buy stores for FL. I see them in VN630 Volvos and VN670's. Never heard a bad thing about them from their drivers.

so far so good with koch. use the qualcomm right and they keep u moveing pretty good. dont mind if u shut down in bad weather...just let them know and its all good. they are strictly legal which is what i wanted. with the csa laws the outlaw days are over. they have treated me really well here and every driver i talk to is happy here. i have high hopes for a long relationship with this company.
Dryver and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
Does Koch still have a flatbed division ?
-
The last that I heard, yes, the Onan/Cummins Divsion. Few years ago they had it made, deliver the generator, DH back to MN. Now they have to pick up freight and bring it back, plus during the last Audit, alot of the Violations that where found, that division.
Last, I would say, watch your back, the knife can go in fast, while talking to you and smiling, and it also depends on the board that you get on as far as your miles. -
How about some details on the pay structure? Pay per mile, what routing program is used, accessorial pay, etc.
-
with 2 years u start at .37 cents per mile w/hazmat. they run pc miler short miles but the gps in the truck can usually get u there in under the miles they pay for the load so usually make out good there. layover is $40 a day get paid as long as you are not dispatched on a load. they pay layover for truck in shop, reset and any other reason your not dispatched. detention id $15 p/hr after 2 hours but i have not received that yet as most loads are drop and hook. trucks run 65mph but can get it bumped to 68 mph after a year of safe driving.
medical ins is not great for your first year. you only get 1 choice of plans and its a limited plan but after a year you can get more options.
standard vacation 1 week after a year 2 weeks after 2 years.
i have found them to be the perfect fit for me with the csa rules im glad to be running legal now and trucks and trailers are fairly well maintained better than many you see on the road.
miles have been kind of short for the last few weeks but weather has alot to do with that i belive and just the time of the year. they have no problem with you shutting down in bad weather as long as you let them know.
there maybe better out there but im very happy with this company and every driver i talk to with them seems to feel the same as i do. they care about their drivers and they seem to understand that we are the backbone of the company. they want to retain good drivers but will not hesitate to get rid of the ones that are bottom of the barrel. and when it comes to best buy you really have to mind yourself. they are the biggest account for cook so you must be professional at all times with them, but that should go for any company you are picking up or delivering to anyway. you are the companys rep out on the road and your image reflects the companys.
oh and my biggest complaint is that you only get a truck wash once every 23 days. should maybe bump that up to once every 2 weeks in winter and you are driveing through ice and snow. but hey ill live.
agian im very happy here but every driver is different. call them and talk to them my recruiter was honest with me about everything and thats impressive in its self to me. has been a great experience from the start and thats a first for me. -
oh and yes they still have a small flatbed division. their were some problems through the whole company about violations but they have worked all that out. they also have a polaris division that is dedicated. not really a flatbed company but if you live in mn might be worth checking into

am thinking of joining Koch - everything sounds real nice up front. How was you experience with them? Thanks!
