Usually, if the weather is bad, we do our securements and tarping inside.

I am glad somebody understood. :biggrin_2559:

I was just in White Cloud Michigan the other day, and we picked up these bags of raw slag for the steel mills in Alabama. The guy was like, "now this stuff is REALLY dangerous if it gets wet. Now, since we have somebody else waiting to get loaded, you have to go outside and finish."

That is when I looked outside at the freshly falling foot of snow and sleet and wondered why the hell I had to tarp it still. wtf?

I think it's funny that everything is so important but they are still like tarp outside it's only raining...then when you get to the next place they make you untarp in the rain out side....sometimes you wonder why you waste ur freaking time ya know

They typically have you tarp, not because of the wet, but because of the road grime and salt that will collect on the freight during the trip. Yes, they'll pull it out of the mud and put it on your trailer and when you get to the other end, they'll set it out in the rain. When using the components for whatever it is they're using it for, whether it be steel fabrication or building, the contaminants picked up during the trip can and will be detrimental to whatever material you are hauling. Sand, dirt, soot, salt, all kinds of stuff gets thrown up on that trailer and, subsequently, can coat or get embedded in the material.

In other words, there's no point in questioning it, just do it.
