Actually, the US contestants have to pass an education test of some type as well.

And no, those people are not the only ones that create the 'image' of American women, especially with all the successful business women this day and age.

Not meaning to sound sexist, it's not my intent at all, but you'd be surprised how "few" the successful business women are compared to those who spend their lives living from one man to another.

Let alone, finding a woman with an ounce of independence, and the intelligence to actually balance a check book, is very, very rare. I'm not even talking book smarts, I'm talking street smarts here.

Sadly enough, "Successful businesswomen" do not show much of an image when there are too many "unsuccessful businesswomen" who are too commonly seen.

Case in point, have a guy go into a mall to go "shopping", and see how many women seem to lack any-kind of education at all. What's even worse, is when you get that women who looks like a super model, who can't even tell you what an expiration date on a gallon of milk means, or who the president before Obama was.

Let alone when they try to discuss current issues in the US, and they go on and on how NYPD should fight harder to stop crime after a news report comes up of a woman being raped and beaten in downtown Everett. and Sadly enough when she believes NYPD is the local police Department. :biggrin_2554:

Finding women who're attractive, independent, and actually have an education, is rare in America.

What's even worse, is when Miss America filters through thousands of women who apply to select the "best candidates", and even their so called "best candidates" can't even tell you where America is.

Thanks to Victoria's Secret, Glamour Girl, etc. They proved women don't need an education to go anywhere in life, and even sadder, there are too many younger women who truly believe it.

My High School Class, nearly half the women I knew are "striving to become models". Nevermind going to college, never mind trying to get a stable job, never mind having personal dependence, they live off their boyfriends like leaches, going from one man to the next.

And now, (well, not "now" per se, because that episode of miss America was quite some time ago) it's becoming more and more of a common site.

If you have a couple daughters in High School, turn on the TV, and tell me what commercials are about. Tell me the image of what "Miss Popular" in High School should look like. A girl with straight "A"s, in High School, is a "goody goody" a girl who "isn't cool".

Have a girl in High School tell someone she wants to be a Nurse, a Teacher, a Doctor, etc. See how many guys, and other gals in that school will laugh at her.

"Successful women" aren't an image in today's culture. It's very few, and far between to find a woman who actually cares about her education, and cares less of her public image. At least in MY age group it is.

You really need to get out in the world more, LRT. You have no idea just how many smart women there are, or how many smart business women there are. Your post is extremely sexist, as well as being very untrue.

Then you wouldn't have spouted the BS you spouted about women in your last post if you had been out in the world. You were home schooled remember?

    Only the first nine years.

I went through High School from 9th to 12th. And went into college afterwards. (Community College)

Women who have brains, is a rare find.

How do I know this? Because I refuse to date/sleep with idiots.

What I posted in the above, is beyond true. At least in my geographic area, finding a woman who has a brain, and is independent, is a very rare thing to find.

My graduation class, at least half of the women I graduated HS with, are either massive crack addicts now, hookers, or Wannabe models. (and even cominations of the later)

The fact a woman was put up as a "Contestant" for "Miss America" and she didn't even know basic geography that is taught in first grade, let alone re-taught when they reach Ninth Grade, and again at tenth grade, and again at twelfth grade.

Is a pretty good showing of how important education, and learning materials presented was to those women. Especially when they receive the title "Miss America" and are then put into Magezines, and world news.

I personally loved her on American Idol. She is just genuinely sweet, cute and talented. She had a rough childhood, her mother left her, her dad was in and out of jail - but yet she remained positive.

Knock on her all you want about her smarts, we don't all have the same opportunities. She's done quite well for herself given the circumstances of her childhood. I still love her to death (figuratively), but haters gonna hate.

I never said she wasn't talented, she has a beautiful voice, and is very attractive.

but the only thing is, Because she's talanted and attractive, and has demonstrated a woman doesn't need an education, or doesn't need to pursue education towards an occupation, younger women now get to look at her and decide they'll be the next Britney Spears, Nichol etc. etc.

Wow ! I did not know that about French beauty pageants. As for this country, I just assumed that Miss America, etc. had the some type of education requirement.

Here's some video of the last three contestants for the 2011 Miss America title ...

Well, apparently there is NO requirement for education to win the Miss America contest.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_America#Judging

Under the section of "To compete you must ... "

says NOTHING about education. Holy cow ! You don't have to EVER BEEN IN SCHOOL to be involved with the Miss America organization as a contestant ...

Here's the current Miss America winner ...
