Extra Pays

    Does anyone have a list or know where I can get info on swifts extra pays. Like layover, detention, short loads, and there requirements.

    I don't know what policy is.....but it seems like every check I have some "wait" pay from a load or two that may have run beyond 2 hrs....in all honesty I don't know if I am getting taken advantage of or they are taking care of me.....i hardly ever talk with my DM...everything I do is over the qualcom ...and only what seems neccesary...I think my DM likes it that I don't bother him with trivial and just try to run it without any drama.
    That being said...the "wait" pay seems to vary in amount...sometimes it can be $24...next time $28...seems to not be exactly the same any two times....maybe they break it down to hours and minutes....

    Also...anything under a 100 miles and you get $25 plus milage...which is about .42 or so....thrown a couple of those instead of complaining about not running and it adds up. It doesn't hurt to run one ...especially coming out of hometime...just to get the ball rolling...sometimes you got to give a little to get on their good side....lol

    Detension pay: $15 hr after 2 hours wait - 6 hours max pay
    Sliding scale for shorter runs - the shorter the more per mile. A detailed list is in the training manual.
    Multiple stops: $15 per extra stop (cheap - should be more!)

    P.S. be sure to reply to qualcomm wait message and also list time in/out on BOL and if possible get it signed.
    getting hosed on detention happens too often - send arrived at shipper message as soon as there.
    1 min late - they don't have to pay.
    Sometimes the pay lags a week or two (waiting on approval)

    All of that stuff should be on the Swift Driver website someplace. I do not have access to it because I am not Company.

    I believe detention pay is $15/hr, paid by quarter hour, layover $75/day, breakdown $75/day, I don't remember what load/unload pay, haz-mat bonus, northeast pay or extra stop pay is. These figures could be way off. Remember, it's been a few years since I worked Company. There used to be a sheet with all the breakdowns for mileage differential pay scale and extras listed out. No idea where to find it now, but your DM or the person in the window at any terminal might be a good place to start.

    I'm looking at the sheet (hard copy) injun is talking about, I think texas nana posted it originally. Anyway, mentions productivity pay, 9500 miles = $50, 10000 miles = $100.00, etc. They still have that? Get paid more east of the mississippi river, $15 for each stop, under 300 mile loads get paid more, etc.

    You can get paid extra for running those "locals" to get an empty. Rule of thumb is generally if loaded miles are under 100 mi. You ask your DM to check it for you. Sometimes I only get 25 bucks, most recently got 42. This is in addition to milage pay, but you HAVE TO ASK over the Q/C. If your dm doesn't pay you ask why not and make them explain the policy. I get it nearly everytime I ask for it and I always ask if 100 miles or less.

    You can also get what they call "trailer move". If a customer asks you to move a trailer that is not in your plan, you can do it and tell your dm afterwards. I have had customers ask me to move a schneider or werner trailer out of the docks between my drop and hook. It pays $10 for 10 minutes of your time.

    The last I heard (and I hope that I'm wrong) is that Swift cut out the productivity bonuses (ie: + $50 for 9500 miles/month).

    I actually beat the 9500 on month, only to be told that HH didn't get productivity bonuses..... I'd had a really good month.

    Productivity bonus was eliminated a couple years ago. I don't know if it has been brought back. There was never a month I did not qualify for at least $150 when I was Company. $250 was max...for 11,500 miles or more in a calendar month.
