Thank you for this little tidbit! I have always wondered why those trucks wanted to show off their grill in my rear-view mirror. Now I know it's not aggressiveness.![]()

What really boils my blood is when a 4 wheeler speeds up to pass me (governed at 62) pulls in front and slows down to 50-55. And it's usually a hy-brid Prius.

I hate to say but the OP is an accident waiting to happen. Probably why he isn't posting here anymore. There is no excuse or scenario that says it's okay to get on someone's tail.
Like barcode said, it's best to suck it up and settle in behind the person at a safe distance. Someone that is driving slow is most likely a local and will be turning off shortly. Many will slow down a mile from their turn as their brain goes to thinking. So we are talking about a truck driver being aggressive over 1 minutes time. Hardly not a fair trade off for putting yourself in a high risk situation.
Now if you are in a wide open area I will pass under certain circumstances.
It's a remote area.
The 4 wheeler is doing 10 under.
I have a very long straight away and can see clearly as far as my eyes will allow me.
Then and only then I will be hanging back and anticipate the pass as I build up speed even before I get to the one I'm passing.
If you are a 4 wheeler and some bozo gets on your tail, it's best to let him pass and get away from you. Just brake and slow down after he moved over into the passing lane and high beam him when it's safe to come back over. -

Friend, I must say yur one of the first 4wheel drivers on here or even out and about that has actually said thanks for our service to this country.
As you well know, If you bought it, we brought it. and Without trucks, the USA dies.
Other thoughts.
I had to pass a couple slow ones this mornin up in MI on M-52. once i got about 1mi to 1.5mi clearance i took off. cant stand slow drivers unless of course the other trucker is gov. by their comp. it mostly the idiots out here that dont know how to drive and cause 98% of the problems.
oh well, they will never learn.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 18, 2011

4wheel... Nope i knew what you ment. Sorry if I gave you a thought i was stating something else.
btw... with proper training and if you could have the patience to work long hrs, be willing to wake up at all hrs of the day to get where you are going on time, keep your log book in order, keep the desk jockeys from runnin you illegal, and just use plain ole common sense with everything each day.. im sure you could do fairly well.
ill add you to my friend list if you have any other thoughts or questions.blazer1 Thanks this. -
I am not sure what I would do in that situation....how many choices are there???
First, I would lay on the air horn until they were safely out of my way....
put on my flashers...
change lanes....
put on the brakes....probably have to do that right away....
downshift....
Call 911 with the mile marker and car plate number and vehicle description....Four wheels Thanks this. -
I generally enjoy ticking 4-wheelers off... makes my day much easier to deal with knowing I tick off alot of people like alot of people have ticked me off that day.
TBH if you see my turn signal you have about 5 secs to speed up or slow down because regardless what your doing or why your sitting next to me... I am coming over if you like it or not because nothing you do with your little car can stop me so its much easier just to get out of the way rather then being a pile of scrape metal or meeting a ditch up close and personal.
Another thing don't go by us laughing thinking its all funny... because I will catch up to you and it might not be so funny then because seeing 80k lbs coming at you is not a laughing matter at that time because you know the person controlling that 80k lbs you just pissed off about a mile back.
Also if there is traffic and a 4 wheeler is trying to get onto the interstate if they do not know how to merge (hitting the gas to match traffic on the interstate) I do not slow down because you don't know how to drive. If you hit me its your fault not mine or anyone else. So either hit the fuel or sit on the shoulder until someone feels bad and lets you in which doesn't happen much... oh wait your a 4 wheeler not a big truck.
