Little things I learned in the shop when I did my time in blues at the Ocala terminalI still make it a point to absorb info from the 3rd party mechanics that come in for engine or truck specific work. Learned quite a bit on the Cummins during my stay in Lancaster last....

On my Shakers, (02-05 opti-idle models) I only ran the batteries down one time. Extended home time (4days) and I think I left a bunk light on. The only thing that stayed plugged in during off time was the food cooler. Since it turned on and off to maintain temp, it didn't draw too much.
I ran a 3 way splitter up front for XM, drink cooler and 100w inverter for laptop. A 2 way splitter in back powered the food cooler and a fan during sleep time. The "TV" power spot was for coffee pot.
I tried talking the shop into adding a dedicated circuit for the inverter. Either red/black power posts like Volvos CB hookup or a 12v port. They wouldn't do it, but it would have kept me from occasionaly overloading the forward port.AZS Thanks this. -

If I'm not using it, it's unplugged. I am always using the cooler and the sirius. When the truck starts to complain, I idle for 30 minutes or so.
