I had to make a choice after being off of the road because of operations.
I found out even with 18 plus years experience if u r off for 1 year or more then u r screwed with choices that u can make by getting back into the trucking field.
Well arnold was my choice to get back in and i had no real choice but to go there so here is my horror story.
From day one in orientation I knew how bad of a mistake that I made by coming here but with my back against the wall i had no choice but to support my family any way i could even if it meant coming to the dark side....
Orientation was full of inconsistancies . The dot physical was a joke with duck walking and tug and pull test . There was no real end all be all conclusions in the days of orientation except to say they were good at playing pass the buck.
They promise u detention pay after 2 hours of waiting... well i am still waiting for any detention pay at all...
They say guarantee weekly home time but after a month to 2 months they will resend that if u want to stay on...
When i wanted to get home after 2-3 weeks on the road they would wait until the last minute to even start preplanning me back to the house ....
At first when i was getting home every week they was great about getting me there and then they said 2 weeks manditory and i had to fight tooth and nail to get home on time if not 2-5 days later then i had planned for...
If u breakdown keep on them about getting paid for it and that goes for being laid over...
You need to stay on your toes and write down all expenses, all pay due to you and write down all advances .....they are in business for them to make money .....
When it comes to the money of the driver you need to figure it out and fight them for money due to you....
I stayed 5 days over new years in laredo tx and their whole demeanor was well u r making 35 a day.... mind u its 35 a day after 24 hours and its not paid automatically u have to put in for it per your DM which is your driver manager .... which is bs they dont manage anything they just force you to take what has been planned by the planners to keep their bottom line....
over the 4 and a half months that i was there i had over 20 (34) hour restarts .... they give u more 200 mile days then anything and if u complain too much they will give you a steak to stay on board but that steak gets rotten real quick and u r back to them 150- 250 mile days again...
My highest mile week was 3153 that only happened once and that was because i could not turn in a 650 mile trip before that last pay period...
most paychecks were for 1500 and under....how sad
Any ways i am away from the dark side and found a real company which i will be discussing in detail later.... Be Cool Yall and God Bless !!!!
PS. STAY AWAY FROM ARNOLD AND USX

Sounds like a typical trucking company.
-
Sounds like a another company that has the mindset of being an untouchable
"Giant" -building a company whose foundations are weak- like sand . . .The lies and deception make for unstable ground and when a storm comes, it just falls over and they stand there astonished after the fact . . . Maybe all these "giants" will fall . . .but I can say that they won't believe it can happen until it does . . .and they can point the finger at themselves for the mistreatment of their own "people" . . .who they are supposed to be caring about. -
when i left i brought the truck back without warning not under a load at all...
i should of gave 2 weeks notice but i have no intention of ever going back...
i would not recommend this company for anyone except for anyone that is in desperate need to get a couple months under their belt to get into trucking...
for the owner operators out there do not lease on all O/O there right now are getting under 2000 miles consistantly and i have talked to more then ample O/O and have heard more then most say 1500 miles or less miles per week are the norm... -
The problem with usx is they are a team oriented company & solos get used as a short haul shuttle runner for the teams. For example a solo driver can pick up a 1400 mi run and run about 300 mi & then dispatch will tell them to swap with a team that has a run going 200 mi but doesn't deliver until 24hrs from the time they swap loads.
