Thankfully, as long as we have a conservative gov't here in Alberta...it AIN'T gonna happen...
There used to be split speed limits many years ago...WAY too many accidents with 4 wheelers running into the back end of trucks...
Besides most companies here do a pretty good job of regulating speed....they just want it MANDATED like Ontario is trying to do...will NEVER happen in conservative Alberta! -
They want to do it to truckers, they should do it to EVERYBODY!!!!!
-
Govern all the 4wheelers!! they're the ones travelling much faster than the truckers!!
-
I beleave that if they are going to do that then they need to do the same with the real speed culprits out on the hiways the 4wheeler and restrick them as well cause they cause so many problems by not nowing how to use the speed -
Don't be so sure.....that's also what they said in Ontario when the idea was first floated !! -
Speed limiters are mandatory for any truck that is in Ontario no matter where they came from. And no matter who is in government as soon as the environment argument is brought up, no politition in the world will argue against it.
In the end, when does any decision go in the truckers favour, or this being a government decision, use common sense. -
I always have this "nightmare situation"...
Going downhill pulling an A or B train...
Your rear trailer is spinning out gradually...
You are going downhill at 105km/h and your speed governer has been set at 105km/h...
Now what do you do?
- Step on the brake and jackknife...
- Step on your gas to pull the whole set back into a straight line, but too bad, you've been capped...
- Slight and extremely precise counter steering to correct it?
I drive the A train regularly... And yes, I think the speed governer is endangering my life and everybody else's life on the road...
-
If the road was slippery enough for the rear trailer to "spin out" as you say,why would you be running 105 kph anyways?
A professional driver would not get himself into that situation because he would have started down the hill at a lower speed.trucker_101 and TheHealthyDriver Thank this. -
