Let me point out that the L/P contract, at least the one *I* signed, says in very clear, unambiguous language, that I am "NOT required to obtain maintenance or repair services from Us <them> as a condition or term of this contract". Yet every time my truck needs repair, unless it is flat not running at all, they demand that I bring it to a company shop and when I tried to have it repaired at Freightliner, the company "declined repair". In other words...I could have it fixed there but the company was NOT going to pay for it despite my "guaranteed" maintenance.
SO...my point is...when you can't trust what they state in a LEGALLY BINDING contract....I'm not trusting what they claim just off the cuff either. I quit buying the party line from them quite some time ago. This is why, when my truck is paid off, I'll be going elsewhere. You can do a lot of things to me but lying is one I'll cut you off at the knees for.
I'd MUCH rather you tell me a truth I may find unpleasant than to smile at me and lie to my face to placate me.

Is the rumor true? No company drivers soon?

And I want you to think about THIS Romans:
While you are driving your truck 900+ miles with what sounds like a host of mechanical problems...
1) How much damage are you doing to that engine that is going to reduce it's life and/or cause you major problems later...like after you get the truck paid off? And then YOU have to foot the bill for problems caused by THEM wanting to pay themselves instead of Freightliner.
2) How much time and revenue are YOU losing by sitting in the shop TWICE? You wait twice to get into the shop and wait twice for repairs to be done.
Let me point out the stupidity here. Let's look at my recent bruhaha with them.
We spent about 10 days in a standoff about getting my truck fixed at Freightliner. I finally relented and agreed to bring the truck to Jackson. Did they win or save anything?
No...they cut off their nose to spite their face.
Let's look at the math:
Lets say that, theoretically, they are getting $2.15/m for every mile my truck drives. Then lets say that my truck moves an average of 500 miles per day-
2.15 x 500 = $1075
Now, lets say that my cut of that is my base .92cpm plus what the fuel surcharge was when my truck went into the shop, .40cpm
.92 + .40 = 1.32/m
1.32 x 500 = 660
So they are losing:
1075 - 660 = $415/day
in revenue that my truck could be making...for THEM.
$415 x 10 days - $4150 in lost revenue for the company over that 10 days.
And the cost to do the repair that they stupidly demanded I bring the truck to Jackson for?
$1300
Which means they just put themselves $2850 in the hole.
No wonder this company is in trouble.....
RTPoobah, Jarhed1964 and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
THIS
..... is exactly the same thing that went through my grape when I read it. 900+ miles with a bad turbo and other things? Hmmm.....
