Well, at least you guys keep this thread on top. Thanks.
I'm wondering if anybody on this forum actually gets in a truck and rides down the highway? There's one or two here that I hope don't get anything out on the hwy. I kind of remember a very old commercial that said something like, "Reading is fundamental."
I only did about 400 miles today, and the first couple hundred, I saw probably 60 or more bud light cartons. No cans, just empty cartons. I bet it's the trucker wanna be that can't read, just goen out there planting these bud light cartons, knowing I'll be here talking about them.
Cardboard boxes; does anybody see these?

Probably more like trying to sell Watch Towers!

Hopefully if they do, there is at least SOMEONE doing the driving. I mean riding down the highway is fine, as long as there is a driver as well. You do have a point there.I remember some type of schooling commercial that said something like "Send me a man who READS!" Obviously, in today's world, this would be labeled an "outrage" as it is sexist, (send me a MAN) and puts down folks who are unable to read, (politically incorrect.)
I liked that commercial too. . .
No, it likely is those blue hair folks from Florida throwing their trash out the window. . .
zentrucking Thanks this. -
but nowadays--you almost never see anybody throw anything out the window
i remember growing up--done with your drink--out the window---dirty diaper out the window
now myself i cant throw anything out the window---well ok i tried that orange monster drink one late night and it was soooo nasty and pissed me off so bad i threw it out the window---the last time was in 98----same thing stopped and grabbed one of those quicky hotdogs---and it was so nasty--it went out the window but honestely that is all i have ever thrown out in all my adult life -
The last thing I threw out the window was a glass soda bottle back in 1991. I was only 16 & we were moving to Arizona. Around Winslow I tossed that bottle out the window of that u-haul....... Then when the window shattered, I remembered that I forgot to roll it down!
I think about that night every time I roll thru Winslow now.canuck in da truck Thanks this. -
It's nice you guys don't throw stuff out. I was in a rest area the other day and someone on the passenger side of another truck rolled down the window, threw a paper wrapper out, rolled the window back up. I really wanted to go hand it back to him, politely of course. Wish I had.
Who's trash'en up my country? I rode about a hundred miles yesterday surrounded by freshly clean freshly mowed grass, (louisiana, getting green down here!) It really was nice. But rare.
So, how DO all these empty boxes get out there in the ditches? And Bud light cartons all along the way? Whose Trash'en up my country!!?? -
Should have walked up and put the wrapper into their fuel tanks. They want to throw their crud on the ground they can fish it out of the diesel tank.

This is a clever ploy by construction companies to dispose of the boxes that nails, screws, etc. come in and avoid paying landfill fees in the process. They have their crews scatter the boxes along the roadside, carefully avoiding placing too many boxes in one place to avoid detection. The Bud Light boxes are of course from the construction workers drinking while they carry out their cardboard box disposal duties. Every once in a while a drunken construction worker will lose a hard hat as he stumbles back to the crew truck after carefully placing a cardboard box upside down in the ditch. After the litter crews clean up a stretch of road, the construction crews come right in with a new batch and scatter more boxes along the roadside. End of mystery.

Remember the Hershey man? He started selling some of the first candy bars, (imagine a time when there were no candy bars!) and to advertise, he dropped candy wrappers everywhere he went. Well, maybe the Bud light sells guys are using cheaper ways to advertise; drop empty cartons all over the hwys. Sad thing is, it probably works!

This thread needs a reality check...
I see crap blowing out of consrtruction trucks, rolloff trucks and pickup trucks every day, Boxes, beer cartons, plastic bottles and all kinds of other stuff, usually it winds up on the shoulder of the road at some point.
Considering the sheer volumes of traffic on most highways in this country, That's a lot of #### blowing out of trucks on a daily basis.
The most plausable explanation for crap on the side of the road is usually gonna be the true reason for it. -
Believe me blackw, reality is extremely over rated!

And not nearly as much fun.
