i am just pulling numbers outta my butt here--but the idea is the same
every year there is say 20000 new drivers --now how many stick around----40000 --maybe

every year 5000 lease trucks---how many complete it??
    800?
every year there are 2000 new owner ops--how many last?
    200?

    whats the difference--
this industry has a habit of chewing up and spitting out drivers no matter what you do
for some the co driver is the way to go--others its owner op---others its lease op
as long as you do your best at what you do--thats all that matters

Now how can you say that? Don't you remember that you leant DickJones your pom poms after he signed the lease deal? At that time you both started cheering.

Whatsamatta, Redd? Your big new deal with Mercer not working out, so you gotta belittle someone else to make yourself feel better?

Let's see if you can take it as well as you like to dish it out.

Actually to tell you the truth, I'm doing great! I've grossed over 30 thousand dollars already this year & only drove 19,000 miles.

You pissed me off the other day. You see, your so quick to judge independents & "Real" Owner Operators because their equipment is not up to par to your standards..... So, in return I'm giving you a piece of your own medicine. Do you not like people talking bad about your beloved Swift? Are you starting to realize that your being bent over at 90 cents per mile? Is the truth sinking in? Do you realize that you are never going to own that truck? Swift has you by the balls.... If you had any!

Repo, bobobrazil and Les2 Thank this.

Who says a L/O will never own the truck? You know whats in our bank accounts? You know what we're saving? Let me ask you this Billy, why is it TRUE Owner/Ops are always the first ones on their big boy radio to talk smack and isnt but a few minutes before they tell you they average $5 a mile. But what they wont tell you, is there operating costs/overhead runs $3-3.50 a mile? So for net, they're actually only getting $1.50 - $2? Yeah....i took basic math in grade school, so i know $2 > $.92 (which is actually closer to $1.35/mi with FSC.

Ever lease a car/truck? what do you do every 2 yrs? you trade it in, and cough up $2k on a new car/truck to lease. then you do it again. Sure you can buy it out, but you know all the problems with the car/truck, so you opt to just spend the $$ and get a new car/truck with a new lease. what is the difference?? Is it because you think all drivers egos and pride has to be stroked day in and out to make themselves feel like they accomplished something? Ever rent an apartment or house? same thing.

I get a kick out of those who are so easy to judge because they think they've seen it all.

i'll tell you what i told Rug....what business is it of yours? if it makes someone else happy, let them go do their thing. If you dont like it, fine. Looks ignorant to run around the forums thumping your chest saying, "ME- TARZAN, YOU-STUPID"
