Just out of curiosity, is anybody here running for Barney Trucking or any of the others that pretty much run from Page to Vegas? I think THAT would have to be one of the most boring jobs around. . .

I run for Gallaher out of Irvona. He's got 9 trucks of his own and a bunch of guys that lease to him. Been there 3 months, really happy so far.

i know all about the hills... we ride dirtbikes in all the local sand pits around here. you can see the tire tracks from the trucks at the top of the hills. have a buddy who said it was pretty nerve racking dumping loads, he said sometimes you'd feel the trailer sink down cuz the top of the hill would collapse a little bit. whatever i got nerves of steel!

i kind of dont mind repetition. i drive the same route every other day. (monday, wednesday, friday one set of stops. tuesday thursday saturday another set of stops but i dont work thursdays). i dunno, i kind of am the type of worker to find things i like. the thing about repetition i like is that i find i can sit back and relax a little bit more. i know where all the low lying branch's are, all the nasty pot holes, all the bad corners and hills etc.

Being that you are local now, I dont think it would bother you. I have always been local myself. When you think about it local is the same roads no matter what you're driving. You use a lot of the same roads to get to different places. I do the same thing most days, but it a lot of miles and I'm not on the same road all day long so it's not bad. Another one of those bad feelings is when the load doesnt break free till the bed is almost all the way in the air, it usually likes to start to lean bad to one side.

It has it's days O.m.d. I drive one here in Va. Sometimes like today I haul and spread gravel. Had a mile long drive to cover. Lots of bumps so your back hurts or you spend the money for a good seat. All in all it's not bad . The best part is your home EVERY night!!:biggrin_25522:

What lobes said!! Tailgatin' gravel is SO much fun!!! NOT!!:biggrin_25510: We have a plastic liner in the dump box and it really helps.. You dont have to put the bed all the way up to dump most times. Even our red sticky clay does'nt hang up to much. I myself like runnin the same roads day after day. You get to know the other drivers from different companies. But one job don't fit all.

I dont have a liner in mine just a bed heater. It usually comes out pretty well, just gotta oil the hell out of it sometimes. We get some coal that is just junk and that is what usually sticks the worst. That reminds me, shoveling a couple tons of coal out when it sticks isn't that fun, good workout yes, fun, no.
