    Hello all!
I just bought a 1993 White/GMC/Volvo WG64T daycab. It has 655,XXX miles, and has been sitting awhile before I got it. It has the early series 60 11.1 detroit.

I'm having problems with the intrument cluster. I was wondering if anyone else has run into the same thing, I'm at a loss.

It will work sometimes, then go out, with the low pressure buzzer sounding continuously. when it quits, the lights for the cluster go out as well. If I pull the fuse, the lights come back on, the buzzer goes away, but the rest of the electronic gauges are out (duh, I know, I pulled the fuse!)

Even when the tach and other gauges are working, the speedo does not. I'm worried I need a new cluster, which I know are $$$$. I've tugged on all the wiring, and disconnected and cleaned all the connections. I figure it is either something with the cluster or the computer.

Anyone have any experiance with something like this?

Everything else on the truck is fine.

    Thanks!
    Adam

Check wiring and connectors first. it sounds like power supply issues, but I used to fix dashboards inside. Unfortunatly I have no wiring diagrams for so old rig.

Is there voltmeter on this Inst. Cluster? What it reads when you get BZZZZ sound?

The oil pressure, voltmeter, and air gauge work when the dash goes out- the voltmeter still reads normal when the cluster goes dead and the buzzing starts.

I'll pull all the connections again and see if I can find something. Is there a way to get the cluster apart without distroying it?

    sounds like a ground problem.
the cluster is pulling a ground though the buzzer
If you go to Volvo,s web site and look fora down load of TSI number 381-620 data link instrumentation manual.
I think it has the wiring information you are looking for.

Old volvo dashboards were very simple. No digital things

The easiest way to tell a data link cluster from the earlier version is by looking at the oil gauge
Is it mechanical? oil symbol in middle bottom of gauge
Or data link? oil symbol on the right midpoint of the gauge

I'm not sure, but seems to me they used '93 Volvo FH12 ore earlier F12 Instrumental clusters.

Can you post a picture of this thing here. If I indentify this dashboard may be I will help you

    Thanks for the advice-
It is a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I will pull the gounds off the firewall here in a minute and clean them, then reinstall. I have my camera with me, so I will take a picture and load it here in a bit.

I used a multimeter and am getting a good ground into the cluster. I also poked around a bit in the cluster and got grounds throughout.

Here is a picture, it is from my phone though, so it isn't that good.

I'm worried I have either a bad cluster or something is wrong with the ECU
