I'm not a Trucker yet, but I have a paper that says I'm a Class A Driver!

Yeehaw I passed the pre-trip/brake tests/in-cab inspections, the skills test, and my road test today!

Skills test: 0 points. In-cab: 1 Item Missed. Brake System Checks: Pass. Pre-trip: 0 points. Road Test: 2 points.

Worst part? All my life I've wanted to honk a truck air horn. I was the kid on the interstate miming the motion trying to get Truckers my Dad passed on the road to honk their air horns. So today, when my chance came to lay on that horn? I missed it. Honked the city horn, totally skipped the truck horn!

The two points deducted during the road test were for grinding my downshifts twice.

Yes, I KNOW I'm not a Trucker yet, but the State of California says I'm a Class A Driver and at the moment that's good enough for me. One step at a time.

Next week is company orientation and after that, I'll spend at least 28 days with a Trainer who I hope will set me on the path to becoming a Trucker.

I'm so glad to have the license and know I'm now squarely on track...
