Around here.....water/mud haulers are kinda like rock buckets......both
are known for lack of maintenance.....and are a serious target of opportunity for DOT.

 

He brought up the issue of drilling on his property,not me.I just want to make sure that he's fully informed about the possible side effects.You would rather have him ignore the 800 pound gorilla in the room?Whatever, it's not my property so why should I care.

enviro-Nazi websit and you're repeating it here.


Last time I checked.......there just aint too much drilling and fracing
going on in New Jersey.

 

Everyone is entitled to give their opinions on any subject on TR.Please enlighten me what do you know about the effects of drilling/fracking on ground water?I do know that drilling may commence in the areas surrounding the water sources for NYC water supply and some aquifers that supply North Jersey.We already have contaminants in our drinking water and don't need any more.I have a cousin that died from cancer at 36 years old and another good friend 56 years old who is in advanced stages of the disease.These are people who never smoked did drugs or drank to excess.Nobody knows for sure how these and many others in our community are developing cancer but the contaminants in water are one possibility.So hence my concern.
And if you didn't bother to read the title of the OP post it's "OK get ready to pummel the new guy"This is my version of pummeling,is that Ok with you?

 

No.....stay on topic with the pummeling.....you did a hijack and went a different direction.

The aquifers and the oil and gas are at different depths......if there was
going to be contamination.....it would have occured naturally.

I work in the frac area of the oilfield....what we do happens at depth...
lots of depth......several 1000s of feet of depth.

You mention ground water.......we're nowhere close to the ground water aquifer with what we do.

I'd look at the mining operations in Eastern Pa and the chemical industry in
New Jersey before I even considered oil and gas drilling to contaminate
the drinking water.

Check your facts......not just the hearsay you get from those not in the know.

 

I apologize for hijacking your thread,I just wanted to be sure that you knew the risks involved .I'm not a chemist either but my sister is, she recently retired after 30 years with Con Agra.She tells me don't think for one minute that the government is looking out for your health,they are in the pockets of industry and the lobbists.
The movie gasland won an oscar at the sundance film festival for best documentary this year,so apparently some folks think it tells the truth.
If fracking is harmless why does it have to be exempt from epa rules in order to operate?And why are the folks in Dimrock Pa.suing Cabot Oil and Gas,are they just a bunch of tree huggers?I think that the two of you(red &green acres) are biased toward the drilling because you both are employed in the drilling industry;not wanting to bite the hand that feeds you.I would feel the same way probably if I worked for them,but I wouldn't keep blinders on either.

 

Would these be the same people that applaud Sean Penn for sitting down with dictators and made ##### with the picture of a mass murder polpular?

Because if they had to live by these rules we would not be able to produce natural gas at a price that we could use. And remember, you are on a forum for trucking. The very same industry that is not being told to elimante polutants from our trucks but being told the new standards are that we have to create cleaner air coming out than what comes in. Gee, why would anyone want to avoid this?

This is a great example about what is wrong with our country. Just because someone is sueing someone with deep pockets and we have a puff peice on how bad things are does not make this information correct. And on the flip side I would not take something produced by Cabot as being the truth. But for some reason we feel that if a Cabot, or any other for profit says it that they are lying. And if it is a documentary it is the truth.

I have a family member that is a scientist as well. He is studing rocks in different deserts for something that I didn't understand. He said when they added that they would look for ways to track tempature patterns for use in determining climate change they tripled their grants.

Now the next step is to show that they can prove anything that relates to climate change and they keep getting money. If not, then that money dries up.

Attacking anthing that is not "green" is big money. Hey, I could make more money if I did a documentary on how truckers caused Global Warming.
