I got 06 T2000, and my steering is hard, so i am thinking about draining steering fluid and replacing filter. Can you tell me what should i unscrew to drain fluid? Should i just unplug 1 hose thats going to power steering box and drain it this way? Also what is the best way to drain air out of the system?

there are two ways. On some steering boxes there are drain bolts, but no drain bolt on TWR box. I did it the other way.
I used to separate fluid return line and put it to bucket for old fluid, I drained all fluid from PS pump fluid tank, I closed fluid return fitting on reservour with rubber plug and fill it with new fluid. Guy who assist me started engine and I keept filling system with fresh fluid till I see clear fluid from return line (PS pump sucks fresh fluid in and pumps old fluid out to bucket).
But before you do it do PS pump pressure test to be sure pump is good. -
Check the U-joints on the steering shaft. If they are seezed it will be very hard to steer.

Bad PS pump is loud. ZZZZZZZZ sound, sometimes bubles and foam if fluid.
Sometimes steering box is worn internally, sometimes PS pressure limiting valve spring is broken and steering is hard.
Too many things to check.Last edited: Mar 1, 2011
