I drove/worked for CWX (Con-Way) for 12 years, and am now with Estes Express, both have paid VERY well despite growing pains and economic conditions, can't complain at all, I'd never go back to a 33 cent OTR job, unless I absolutely had to! I started with Swift in 1993 at 20 cents, left at 22.5 cents (1993-1995), it was fun, had a good time, but living in a truck got old quick!

    Just my opinion.......

I love your signature - I feel the same way. I drove OTR for 1.5, P&D for about 4 years, 3.5 years of line-haul, and this year I took a yard/dock bid so I'm not accumulating any miles. I figure I was about 150,000 OTR, 250,000 P&D miles because I had a windshield run, and 315,000 line-haul miles in our computer making for something around 715,000 total miles but the odometer has stopped for a full year. There's drivers at my terminal that only have a year or so more than me at the company and they have a million accident free Con-way miles. I guess I better get my butt back on line-haul next year..haha..

haha, yup, it's hard to calculate the miles at Con-Way, I worked 6 years in Phoenix doing p/d primary, line secondary, and put in tons of miles, but can only calculate something like an average of 50 miles a day times 5 times 21 times (on and on). So, really, I could be closer to my million than I think, but will never know.

I worked a dock bid for 6 years in Pasco WA with Con-Way, and the computer showed 70,000+ miles when I left (Con-Way didn't have us logging into a computer prior to what, 2000?), and that is doing a dock bid primary, and taking little line runs secondary, like Moses Lake, Wenatchee, Lewiston, Yakima etc, so maybe the 6 years at UPH were actually more LOL

Now, I'm almost at 3 years with Estes, and have to have about 100,000 miles per year, I'm XTRA Board, driving line over the road in the western states. LOVE IT! Usually home every 7-9 days, drive terminal to terminal only, and EVERY run complete in the 14 hour punch to punch, day cab so motel every night, and making 50+ cents per mile, and Estes really treats me great, it's very nice! Too much stress for me at Con-Way, but they are a good company if you can handle stress ;)

I always heard drivers complain but some of it (i think) is the area they live in.
$34,000 sucks in New York City but pretty good in Lick creek Ohio:biggrin_2559:
