How tough is it to get hometime? Some of these guys make it sound like your out for 4 months and get 4 days home...

All you have to do is call and Say "I want xx/xx/xxxx through xx/xx/xxx off" and she says "ok, I just sent the info to dispatch, your all set!"

Thats all there is too it, they dont question it, You can take allot more time off here as well. We get 1 day off for every 6 on the road, most companys give you 1 day off for every 7 on the road. And most companys will not give you more then 3 days off at a time. Most companies also want 2 weeks notice for hometime and STILL find a way to get you home late....here you can ask a few days in advanced and be there ON time (not always the case depends on where you are, where you live and freight of course). But you living around 3 or 4 terminals you should have no problem getting home.

I stayed out from sep-jan 20th and called on tuesday morning PISSED about the load I was on and said "I want 5 days off when I get back to conover, nc" (I was in MA at the time) I was HOME on saturday by NOON and had 5 days off and ended up getting 7 off because I didnt have to leave with my load until sunday! :biggrin_255:

OH yeah one more thing, allot of companies will say 2 days off and what they mean is 34 hours at home! HERE you get FULL days off, so like in my example above I got to the terminal at 10am But my hometime didnt start until midnight! So they day you get home and the day you leave home do NOT count as your hometime you get full days off. So if you ask for 5 days off you can really get 7 if you get home early in the morning and leave late at night....

It's as easy as "ask and you shall receive"...Just don't give them 2 days notice when you want it...If it's important, the more notice the better...
