    Thank you bigblue19:biggrin_25514:

It just goes to show all of you that all the stories from the drivers on here are leaving out alot of details.
The company is not allways to blame.
Bigblue hit the nail on the head you need to make sure that all of the paperwork is completed right and that you send the macros.
If you have any doubts about weather or not the company got the macro just call and ask.
Sure my job is to drive but there are other things that goes along with that like paperwork and I will be giving 100% to May.
I seen a May truck here at the local super k and he was only there long enough for a restart I was trying to catch up with him to ask what his experince was but he was either in the store or at one of the motels accross the road. I would of loved to talk with him unless he is one of the complainers.

The key is communication, aditude, completeing the paperwork right the first time

Hmmmm. I've heard drivers being called "complainers" many times before. Some probably are. These guys no doubt try to invite all those they meet to their pity parties. They love being miserable and being in the dump, so nothing ever changes for them. After these guys drop off, they'd ##### about their own caskets if they could.

But know also that sometimes the term "complainer" is a euphemism for "one who stands up for himself". In other words, when you run into a so-called "complainer", know he could be the real deal and is simply a person who doesn't take any bull #### from anyone.

You just have to figure out which is which when you do your search for unbiased opinions.

I worked at USX for almost 5 years before they started to change for the worse but they never preplned loads like May does. I was always wondering when and where I was going next at USX. At IDC they had drop and hooks but the live loads took forever to get loaded and their preplns are a joke. They would send you a prepln that should of pu hours ago or even a day ago and still want it del on time, If you needed a appt change then they would sched it so you would have to spend a half a day or a day waiting to del. May is the first company I have worked for that actually sends you a legit prepln before or while in route to the consignee. So for me it is a easier place to work at. Like I said if you are sitting first look at yourself then the dispatcher if no problems and you can't get the miles you need then turn the truck in. Thats what I would do. Babysitting a truck does not pay much if anything, so why do it?.

I just did another 3 weeks OTR with this company and feel I can give my final opinion of this company.

First the Good. They prepln loads and give you enough time to deliver on time. They use trip scanning so no trip packs to send in and you keep everything for your own records. They don't have lots of teams to cater to and baby at the expense of solo drivers like other outfits I have worked for. They have gotten me home as scheduled each time on the date requested. My truck though 4years old works fine and has only needed minor problems fixed which was done promptly. If they have driver unload frt I have not seen any and their lumper approval is lightning fast compared to when I worked at IDC and USX, and the amount is never questioned. By and large their miles paid and miles ran are close together for the 11 western fleet don't know about refer division. They pay you for not idling the trucks and have bunk heaters on most trucks and will give you a idle override if it is to hot out to not idle. You go to alot of the same shippers and receivers and for the most part the directions have been accurate. They will dh you hundreds of miles to get you loaded instead of making you sit to wait for a load Like IDC will do.

Now the bad. Their frt base is not diversified enough in my opinion with to many short runs with to much time on the load. All their dispatchers are not created equal and your ability to get miles might depend on who you are assigned to. I told them out of the gate I would not accept anything less then a avg of 2500 miles per week. Well I am Avg 2534 per week for the period between April 20th to to July 3rd but have to work harder then I should to get it due to the short runs with to much time on them. And in the slow periods of the year I think my avg will drop sig just based on the length of haul and the frt base unless something changes between now and then. They only pay for 1 truck wash every 2 months and if you want it washed more you have to do it at your own cost or yourself if their wash bay is ever actually open, which seems to be never when I'm around. Even though you scan your trips you still have to make sure they have received the scan even with a receipt because if they forget to pay you for a fax or scale ticket they will simply say they did not get the scan due to a tech error in the computer and to resend it. Their pay for things such as Layover, Detention, Local Work, is not spelled out in writing in the driver manual or automatic. It depends on how on the ball your dispatcher is or that you remind them it will be your last local if not paid. I have not had any Layover yet but several drivers have told me that if you get close to being eligible for it they will give you a local or re dispatch you on the load you dropped to avoid paying you the $80 and pay you $30 for a local.
To many delivery's to grocery whses for me. I don't like dealing with them because they treat drivers for the most part like dirt and without respect for the job they do. They do not maintain their trailers well enough in my opinion or have well train mechs working on the trucks. The joke going around is if you have a problem with your truck and take it to Brooks you will get a new EGR valve but still have the problem with the truck.

My final opinion of this company is that they are average but nothing more. They do get you home on time and pay on time and have acceptble trucks this of coarse is IMO. But they try to do things on the cheap to often instead of doing it right the first time. If you are owed detention, layover and breakdown pay, you might have to bug your dispatcher for awhile. They seem to have a policy of only paying for these things if they have to and you bug them about it. Their miles are not consistent for many because of their lack of diversity in shippers. They need more local drivers to run intrastate loads and are losing drivers who are tired of running them because they have 2 much time on them for what they pay. Not keeping their trailers repaired and clean and only paying for 1 tractor wash every 2 months is absurd and shows image is not a concern to them and a turn off to drivers like me who are used to clean equiptment payed for by the company. Right now they are OK for my needs since I have been getting about what I needed from them minus the clean equipt, and for the most part they have been honest about how cheap and average they are. But I do not see a long term carreer for any driver looking for that in this OTR company. They where never that for me. I'm just getting wheel time after being sidelined by IDC, so they are ok for my needs for now. You could do worse then May, But you could do better with a little effort also. If you are a trainee just out of the gate I would sign on in a heartbeat since most training companies won't have you making 32 cents a mile 2weeks out of orientation like May will. I think that is all they want to be anyway, they can't really compete with the likes of IDC or GTI in many areas. By the way they do not pay for orientation and their sign on bonus is for refer division and payed out over a 1 year period which I think you have to stay the full year or they want the bonus back. But that is what I was told by other drivers since I drive the dry side I'm just the msgr on that.

If you come through the Utah terminal on the 16,17,18 of July ask arround for Mike G I will be there for orentation I will be driving the blue 1993 chevy cavalier 4 door.

I am leaving the car at the terminal so I can have some thing to drive when I get solo and need repairs to the truck.

Another reason is if the company is not for me then I can drive to the next job.

I told the recuriter that there was no way I was dealing with a bus for 21-22 hrs when I could be there in about 8 hours driving. They are paying for my gas.

I posted in wrong spot on other post. I was wondering how you guys that have been with May for awhile like them now. I've been driving for 25 yrs so don't anticipate the problems some newbie trainees may have or have had, I'm interested in doing the 48 state reefer. Thanks, Jeff

I drove for May for 5 weeks last year.

I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They lie like all the rest.
There wasn't anything that I liked about them once I started working there.

    Just my opinion.
