I just finished school but am having a hard time with the parallel parking. Sometimes I can do it, I just need a little more time. I can straight line back, and I can drive. My husband got his license and we want to team, so I was wondering if there is anyone willing to help me and what could I expect it to cost? Thanks!

Are you having a hard time backing into a dock? or parallel parking?
-
unless they have changed something in GA the parallel park is a joke. they just set up two cones and you ut it between them. and to be honest all you have to do is get the back of the trailer in it. if you end up with just the trailer in the zone and the truck outside it you are better off to leave it just like it is. you loose more points doing a pull up to try again.
I got my cdl in GA and that's exactly what I did and was told by the examiner -
You will never actually parallel park an 18 wheeler in real life. If you've passed the school and the DMV and have your license in hand, don't worry about it. I've never seen a truck company have you parallel park during their road test. And think about it, who would park with the trailer parallel and the tractor sticking out in the traffic lane?
-
I do it all the time what do you mean????
you have to do it at rest areas that only let you park on the side of the drive, you have to do it in town. it's easy once you get it done the first time or two -
i've done parallel parking in rest areas when all of the other places had been taken, and i watched a driver pull out of his spot on the side.. i dont like parking on ramps so i took the one he left.. wasn't really all that hard, just have to be conscious of the drives and front of the trailer.

parallel parking, even if you don't *have* to do it very often, can be a VERY valuable skill. For instance, maybe the only space left at the truck stop is up against the curb, between other trucks. Your ability to parallel park may be the difference between skipping it or being able to go to bed soon.
Then again, a lot of folks without the skill will go ahead and try, pretty much shutting down that part of the lot until they either succeed or give up. -
I'm talking about the parallel park skills test for the DMV test and what you learned in school. IE, the trailer is in the "box" and the tractor is not. That's called parallel parking, but, in reality it's not a "real" parallel park.

The parallel has 4 cones in front, 4 cones in back and all down the other side, you have to put both tractor & trailer into the box. I failed the test because once I messed up I got nervous and unsure of myself, but the day before I did it perfectly! My instructor said I needed at least another week just to build up my confidence. Everything else is fine. I just did not want to have to go back through school, I need to go to work! I will though, I sure do not want to be an unsafe driver.

Actually both, I did not get much time with the 90 or dock. Thanks for the reply, sorry it took so long to check back in, the grand kids came over.
