my C15 has fuel in the coolant, im thinking maybe injector cup seals? i was thinking to test i would pull the injectors and put air to the cooling system, will that work? how much of a pain is it to change injector cup seals? can it be done with out the cat tool?

its either the injector cups or injector cup o-rings. You have to remove the cups no matter what it is. ynot had a post on The Diesel Garage on how to make a tool to remove the cups, otherwise you''ll have to buy the CAT tool kit to remove and install them. Don't waste your time with pressurizing the coolant system.........the cups is the only place I've seen fuel tranfer to the rad and coolant in the tanks.

thanks, so should i just buy all new cups? or check for cracks and do seals?

if it was me and I was gonna keep the truck for any length of time, do all cups and inj o-rings, you're right there when you take the inj out so might as well do them all. just my .02

Yes, new cups, new o-rings for the cups and new o-rings for the injectors......new injector hold down bolts........clean everything twice before putting back together

You may already know, but Cat makes some green colored adhesive that needs to be used on the injector cup o-rings. Use it liberally.

The green stuff for the injector O-rings is part number 8T-2998 and should be mixed 50/50 with clean engine oil.
The cups use a retaining compound and it's part number is 4C-9507 and is applied directly to the cup below the lowest O-ring. Do NOT apply any to the head. The injector cups O-rings are lubricated with only clean engine oil, not the mixture used for the injector O-rings.

i called cat about the retaining stuff, he didnt really know what i was talking about, he said they have somthing like that but its sold by the gallon? he said they use power punch and just slap them in... i built that injector cup removel tool and it works like a charm! what should i use to put the cups back in with? i was reading last night about cutting a old injector apart and using that, but i dont really have a old injector that i want to cut apart

I have a small bottle of the retaining compound and it has the 4C-9507 part # on it that Mr. Haney provided.
