Where are you attending orientation? Don't get me wrong you will earn every penny of that money. The last open deck work I did was for keen hauling equiptment.....no tarping involved. I had forgotten how much i hated tarps, but with checks like that I will live with it. If you don't have a laptop or notebook....invest in one, it will pay for it self pretty quickly.

I have a friend that is doing the LP deal there. He has been there a couple of weeks and is very pleased. The one thing he did say was that he did not think the securement training was adequate for someone who has never pulled a flatbed before.

The only negative I have found thus far is the trailer I am pulling is a Xtra lease. I have no headboard or storage boxes on the trailer so I have been keeping all my equipment in the truck. They have just put the order in for 50 new trailers with two boxes and nice headboards with places to store all your equipment. When they arrive the drivers pulling the Xtra lease trailers will turn those trailers in and get a new one. -
Well I must be moving up in the world..........I was thru the terminal in Eldridge Iowa today, and was offered a covered wagon. So I no longer have to pull that xtra lease trailer around. Never pulled a covered wagon before, not sure if I will like that, but everyone says I won't want to give it up.

Nope...you won't want to give it up...depending on the freight that you get. If you have to pull the sides (both), it gets old. It isn't so bad as long as you're the only one pulling it....that way you can be sure that the stakes and sides get put back in the same hole you pulled them from. For the most part...it's a lot easier. Way more easy than dragging a tarp around. A good idea would be to take it all apart and put it back together again...the right way. Then be sure to number the sides and stakes to ensure that they're put back in the proper places. Everything should just slide in if they're in the right places. -
What are you doing for health insurance. I see that as a big obstacle in going out on your own. -
I drive for Maverick and am going a a dedicated run for them and will be pulling a covered wagon. Have never pulled one before...so I looked at your info with great interest. Thanks! -
