Well for one I am not a man. # 2, I am a student with my class A permit. #3, Yes I have been there with my husband in our Pete. And yes I have driven in New England. Drivin in NY and through the City several times just in the past few months. It seems that the ones that are giving me such a hard time here are still what my husband would call rookies.(0-1yr Driving or a student) So did you all come out of school being super truckers? Where is that school located? I want to go too! So I can be big and bad and think I am all that. So some of you are from there and used to the mess. I am a southern girl and like wide open spaces. I am just being honest and realistic about my abilities as of yet. Can you say the same thing?
MackDaddyMark, The Challenger, trucker_101 and 3 others Thank this. -
Atta girl....go get em tiger!
You drive your truck...and when you are comfortable with traffic...then go play Christine Columbus...discover America.....ON YOUR TERMS!!
BigShrek72, trucker_101, inkeper and 1 other person Thank this. -
I also like Chicago. As long as you watch for low bridges, you really cant get lost. Its a giant grid. Yeah, there is some traffic, and entirely too many toll booths, but otherwise, not bad.

To ottererhalfw,This is not the first time you have got what I was trying to say. Thank you very much! What is it with some of these people? I just do not get it. Is it all just frustration and they have to take it out on somebody?
It is nice to know that there are still some GENTALMEN out there!
otherhalftw Thanks this. -

Well don't want to make you mad.........we got a message months ago telling us Swift is!
Once again we get so many lies! BTW I'm not calling you a liar Shrek.
So what is the truth?
I have turned down a couple loads that either picked up or delivered up in that area of the bouroughs of NY, or around Newark. I've never been to our yard in Avenel NJ. I sat in Bordontown NJ sat the Petro for New Years. I got an offering to pick up in Elizabeth. I refused and told them I feared for my safety in that area. I got a question back asking, "You are in NJ now. How unsafe is it?" I was in a small town with cows and barns.
Most of Jersey is country and small towns.
I was not trained in those areas. Lots of streets and roads where a 102in wide 53ft trailer is illegal. Many streets in Baltimore have 3/4 ton limits on them. I do go into Baltimore, reluctantly. I drove over 2 miles in a very nasty area of B'more on a 3/4T street to get out of there. It was early in the evening. Most of the scum wasn't out on the street.
Bet the cops don't give a poot if you are lost, you are going to get a ticket! I don't need that crap on my record. I also don't feel like handing out the money for the fines.
I don't do the NE. Swift does have comfort zones. The NE isn't in mine.
I do take loads going out of my comfort zone. Send me to upstate NY in the peak of the snow storms? No problem! LA no problem! I can turn a truck around out there. Not as cramped.
I haven't been into the heart of Chicago where the low bridges are. I have been in one area where a friend told me I should have been "packing." I told my DM if they didn't get me loaded in time I was leaving. Shipper didn't have my product, had me parked in an alley.
All you chest beating, never driven a truck "wannabeez" and students really need to shut up and listen VS flappin your lips. I don't talk about things I don't know about. I come here to learn, and to help others.
And for a day cab driver to come on here and talk about going into those areas? Add a few feet to your tractor's wheel base and get back with me.
I wonder if there is a notation next to my truck number saying "won't go inside the 287 loop!"
I keep busy with plenty of runs. I don't need to go into those areas. Rumor is there is extra pay to work there. If there is? OTR drivers don't get it.
My mentor went to the Bronx and Brooklyn a few weeks ago. He also did some FedEx Newark runs. Swift had ended the Mac23. He got big time lost. -
I don't think being "wannabeez" or a "student" has anything to with it in this particular case. It has to do with a NEW EMPLOYEE telling a NEW EMPLOYER what they're NOT going to do, knowing what the JOB entails when you apply for for it. It's not a good attitude to have.
