If you expect truckers to strike you need to have very specific issues that you want addressed. I don't see truckers going on strike simply because so many of them simply don't feel that they can afford to sit. That is obvious by so many cheap loads being moved. Fuel is way too high, but you can compensate by raising the rates for which you are willing to haul a load. If you don't like the idea of EOBR's, speed limiters and the hours of service, then it is up to you as an individual to make your voice known. You can post your comments on the federal websites and stay in touch with your elected representatives. It is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. Put some action with your whining. Have you ever wondered how MADD and some of the other special interest groups have gotten the ear of congress and the fmcsa? They have organized people to make those phone calls, write letters and send emails. MADD and some of the other organizations are not very large, but they do make a lot of noise. If you want to organize something then get drivers motivated to take action. Make their voices known. That will do more good than anything else. It is fine to make posts on a truckers forum, but you are preaching to the choir. Many drivers won't even take the time to vote. Unless you are willing to take action your words won't be effective.

RICO ACT - BS - This country's econmy is already falling down around everyone's ears because of the Federal Reserve and the government, and the american citizens of this country are oblivious. Hope everyone has enough food and necessities stashed away to survive on for about 6 to 7 months because the US dollar is going to go the government is going to see to that. A 30 day boycott will have more of an affect than striking for three days. Did you not see where Utah is trying to get back to silver and gold for their money.

I remember year 2000, when 1 Dollar was exchanged for 1.35 Euros. Now its the opposite. Its pretty clear that things are not gone change for better, cose nothing is made here anymore. 20 years ago,America use to make 40% of everything that was produced on this planet. Now that rate is around 12% and is going down.
Thank you Walmart , and #### you. I hope union gets inside of you and eat you alive.

How about July 3,4,and,5th for a strike most will or can take paid vacation during holiday. We need to be very specific about our demands something good for company drivers and owner ops. We need to start my getting the word out 50,000 bumper stickers saying trucker strike July 345th demand your independence. When were at truck stops just go by every truck and explain ask if you can put bumper sticker on back of trailer. Everyone will get the picture and can plan on 3 days off work. We will demand these things. No on-board recorders
Reduced and caped spending for fed DOT
    Transparency on every load
(Driver must see what every load originally paid)
    End government assistance programs
(No more money for large company's to train new drivers)
Lets make our CDL schools work for their $6000 dollars, they should train us . And last no profit double brokering if one broker has to pass on a load he should do so at 100%

    any other suggestions?

been thru 3 strikes and shutdowns since 1981. we sit in unity and watch walmart, swift, jb hunt, schnieder etc drive by with the "i aint shutting down" attitude. the key is to stop working for the mega carriers - they are in control of alot of things. get in thier pockets till they start losing profit, then the government will intervene to protect that missing tax revenue.

I drove for Schneider National some time in the last 3-4 years. A shutdown was called for April 1. I was "unlucky" and the drag link on my tractor broke the night before in a truck stop parking lot in the middle of East BFE. It took them 48 hours to find a replacement part and get it installed. So even though I was a COMPANY DRIVER, DRIVING FOR ONE OF THE MEGA-CARRIERS, I still did my part to make changes to this industry!

It sure is funny how fragile a drag link is when compared to a 5 lb sledge hammer!!!
    :biggrin_25525:
I wonder how that part got broken???
    :biggrin_25524:
Drivers, we can make them take notice. We just have to stick together. So you cant afford to sit for a day, or you are not willing to "breakdown" for 24 hours, maybe you make a doctor's appt to get your prostate checked, I don't know, do anything other than drive for ONE STINKING DAY!!!

Surely, we can all think of something we could do, instead of driving, to draw attention to the problems this industry has!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we literally hold the keys to America's economy!!! Without us this country can not function. It is high time we demand the respect, lifestyle, and PAY that has been denied to us for far too long!!!

If you are not willing to participate in the process, then don't piss and moan about how lousy the job is! All we have to do is NOTHING for 24 hours!!! Stay home, stay off the roads, park the #### truck for one day.
