I'd be prepared for a delay - It really depends on the terminal and the number of empty tractors (left by resigned or terminated drivers) vs. deadlines they physically have on ground at that moment...I wouldn't camp out in the driver's lounge though, go home (that is, if you are close enough) or a motel and be available by phone.

A friend of mine who's been with them for years (miracle in itself!) says sometimes you might team or deadhead with another driver to another location to pick up a tractor.

Be paitent, don't pester the shop or the dispatch window, 'cause they won't know anything 'till they know...

    BOL at Swift!

Troutdale terminal....hard to say...but like the previous poster says...you might get put on another drivers truck to shag a truck based out of the Troutdale group that has been abandoned at another terminal...like Lathrop, SLC, Denver or even Mira Loma or Phoenix.

another possibility...the driver you get put with will be moving into a new truck at Phoenix, and you will get his truck after he vacates it....just far to many "maybe's" to give a specific time line!

when you do get YOUR truck...be sure to inspect it with a fine tooth comb. Put on the inspection check out sheet every little ding and scratch top to bottom and inside and out....you don't want to get blamed for any damage not noted on your initial inspection...remember you are still in "chain time"...lay out the snow chains and be sure they are in decent shape...bungee cords (minimum 10), chain key...always make sure you have the chain key (wrench)! You know the game...CYA...take the time to get it done right! the highways will still be waiting there for you...just do it right!
