always a good idea if you are going to abandon the truck--make sure it is mt of fuel
i mean if you are going to be that stupid and that ignorant---you might as well go all the way

 

Reading his only other post it sounds like he started driving in late December for Heartland.

Maybe he ended up hating OTR and is trying to get out QUICK!!!!

 

If you really want to do it, get disqualified medically. Tell them you just don't think you'll be going back to driving, they'll come to pick the truck up. then tender your resignation stating you found other work. Or find a loophole in the company policies, like play up you don't feel safe enough to drive. they may not charge your with abandonment. It's cowardly and you should be ashamed of yourself, but these ways may work, then again maybe they wont.

 

Seriously? Seriously!?

Why abandon ? Unload the beech as agreed, refuse any new dispatch and take it the nearest terminal or the one you hired in at. Hop the Grey Dawg home....easy.

I don't get this....... but if you do....nobody else will hire you. HR folks have ways of communicating without breaking the law.... you can bet on it.

 

There are lot of things that can happen with abandonment. Here are just a couple and you can bet your life you will be sued plus not drive again for a long while....if ever.


1. It could get backed into, hit or damaged from another truck or vehicle.
2. The whole rig could be stolen.
3. It could be broken into and stereo and/or other electronics stolen.
4. Fuel, wheels/tires could be stolen.
5. It could be towed from where you leave it by a wrecker service.

You will be held liable for these things.


I would think hard and long before doing something like this. Its immature, a low blow and will cause you grief...believe it.

 

Mail a couple change of clothes, your pc and a few other things home, then grab your wallet, and cell phone and push it off a cliff. Tell them you went to take a leak and forgot to pull out the breaks. You just destroyed there truck, trailer and hopefully an expensive load. You will get less repercussions for this than an abandonment charge.

 

You forgot "Don't expect to get your last paycheck."
