I would assume Central Refridgerated?? Be a little more descriptive. There are many Central companies.
Hard to read you're post with no punctuation. Now why would they send someone home just because they have a past? Welcome to the real world.
But it is crappy they don't pay your way home. Most places do. I don't legally think they can abandon you like that. After all they did show intentions of hiring you and paying your way there. At minimum, it's not morally correct. -
thats exactly how they do you! i got my cdl through them out in utah also. it can be very stressful to try and concentrate on passing backing and driving test when everyday they grab 3-4 students and send them backing on their own dime. everything from health conditions to criminal background from decades past!

That's the norm. You should be grateful they paid for you to go out there! So I don't think you are telling us the complete story. What did you leave out or what did you lie about on your app? Central is very strict on that. That is why time after time it is mentioned in these threads.

Sent home for skeletons in the closet huh? How dare them.

Welcome to the world of truck driving. I don't usually post, and I am relativley new myself but come on any company that was even remotely interested in me did a background check up front and a week before I left for orientation I double checked that they had everything, and I had everything I needed most importently money. It seems that the guys that go to a company sponsered school get the crap end of the stick alot of the time, and when it doesn't work out they are on the hook for some big money. It is crazy and cutthroat enough with out that added pressure. I went to one company 2 weeks out of school and did not like them and left, they offerd to pay my way home and give me partial pay for the 2 days. I said no thanks all I want is to be able to stay in the room untill I have to leave for the train and please do not ding me on my DAC, I wasted your time I will pay my way. It was only 100.00 dollars back to Chicago from Jackson,MS. They did not ding my DAC and let me stay in the room for a few hours. So if your open,up front and honest sometimes things will work out but remember have a back-up plan and always cover your rear-end. Hopefully things work out for you and you can get moving. Don,t wait too long I should have stuck it out with my first company and had to go with a company that is not as good as the one out of MS. but it has all worked out but it ain't easy and the money aint't great but I pay the bills and I have a lead on local gig but it's working the rails and I don't know about all that. Stay possitive and hopefully you will be a little wiser next time. Go and talk with some guys you see parked at Walmart or wherever and see what they have to say, I can't tell you how many guys I talked to some of it may scare the crap out of you but at least you will know what your up against, also use this site, I wish I had seen it sooner but it is a wealth of info if you know what you are looking for and certain people on here are always willing to help, it may not be what you want to here but it is usually the truth.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
i had no problems at all. i was up front about everything that i could think of, but they sent a 56 year old guy home because he forgot to put that he had a misdemeanor charge when he was 16. i was right there when it happened so im not making any comments on something i heard or was told. central gets about 40 new students a week and only have about 2200-2400 trucks in their fleet. do you think they arent trying to weed some out any and every way possible?
-
another thing! there were people who were told by RECRUITERS that stuff was checked and wouldnt be a problem. then they got to the school and were sent home for something a recruiter said they would be fine with. do you think someone would travel across the country to be sent packing on their own dime? i certainly wouldnt
-
I here you, not saying anything about OP , thats the nature of the beast, recruiters are definetly a low breed of people. All you have to do is the math, all these fresh bodies every week and only so many trucks to go around. All I am saying is cover your butt these companies do not i repeat do not care if it is you or the guy next to you who goes home so plan for the worst and hope for the best. My blood pressure has always been fine got a DOT medical before I went to school, show up at oreientation suddenely me and 50% of us are borderline go figure so I know what you are talking about at least I got a nice nap in a dark room for 30 min.

some companies dont do the real back ground check intill you are sitting in front of them. I am sure when they just seen some of the people, they could tell they would not want then working for them. You are never promised a job untill everything is checked out...which is a very common in trucking
