I use all NAPA filters as often as possible. Now on some of our newest equipment they havent got the filters made/crassed yet such as the DEF filters.
Why do I use NAPA filters? Because for the most part they are of good quality, their numbering system is awesome (makes inventory a snap) and convenience. NAPA services my shop, most all of our stuff comes from NAPA, having all NAPA filters makes inventory nice and simple, only 4 numbers 99% of the time.
I have over $5,000 in NAPA filters in our shop for our farm, and have not seen a single reason to convince me to choose otherwise. CAT filters are good filters. But its not worth my extra time to go to the CAT dealership to buy them when all I have to do with NAPA is log onto ProLink and bam its in my shop within a day or two.

These are medium duty application but you get the idea.
Baldwin has no binding to keep the pleats together, the threaded section of the top is stamped steel, and the case was distorted during cutting.
The CAT is cast aluminum threaded section, wrapped to prevent blowout in the event of over pressure or too much suction, and the case does not distort during the opening process.
Granted they should both filter fuel but when you have a problem which would you trust your $20,000 engine to?Attached Files:

CAT filters are made by Advanced Filtration Products in Champaign, IL...

(The web link doesn't work btw...)
I met two engineers from this company at the MATS several years ago. They were at the CAT booth demonstrating the differences between their filters and the competition. The CAT filter has a cast aluminum end cap, heavier gauge body, better bypass valve, silicone wrappings around the media to prevent the pleats from being sucked together, better media materials, etc.
They have a double crimp on the end cap to seal better and the gasket is a better quality than others. All in all a way better filter especially if you run extended filter intervals like I do.
Wix, Baldwin and Fleetguard make good filters no doubt... I've used them all. But CAT filters are the "creme de la creme" of truck filters. You can see the difference when you open them up... -
Then, of course, you have the cheap Chi-Com knock-offs... why can't we stop this #####?
