Is anyone running uhf/vhf or HF in your truck? What are you running for radios and I am looking for antenna ideas. I have a daulband radio I want to put in my truck when I get one. I also have an HF rig I would like to bring with me down the road. How are your antennas mounted.

    Thanks, Lee

I have a Icom 880H with just a 2 mtr mag mount on my van currently . would like to put hf in after I move up to a sprinter. You might look at a gutter mount 2/440 I would think that you could get a better ground that way. I can't wait for dayton!

I have an old Azden PCS-6000 2 meter rig and a Yaesu VX-7R handheld that I take with me. I also have an old Clear Channel Ranger AR-3500 mobile for 10 meters. If I go back out on the road again, I will probably buy a Yaesu FT 857D mobile for HF work...

I was always scared some dirtbag would break into my truck and steal my gear, any of you ever have any issues like that out on the road ?? Losing a CB is one thing but getting an HF rig stolen is usually more money..

Dont leave a big radio on the dashboard. The heatsink is a dead giveaway LOL

I was thinking about travel plus software from ARRL so I could program my daul band to be able to use driving. Not sure if I would bring my HF dont think I would get a lot of us and its big.

I have an ICOM 706 MKIIG so the faceplate is above ground and all the rest is down low wher its sorta unseen. A lot of guys have 2m and talk on the 147.300 in N VA, they also use the target link repeater system and I hear them quite often on I 68 hauling milk. I don't get to talk very often but Echolink is fun to mess with in TN on I 40. I only use a SG 7900 and dont get on HF tho there is a HF net (google it) for truckers. Use Powerpoles and make up your own wires and make them mobile so you can get them out of the truck. Some guys mount the whole works in a box so they can run daycabs. You can probably talk a mech into running your own zipcord from Anderson from the battery into the cab so you can pull the Amps necessary for 50-100 W ops.
The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people.

You know that the FCC no longer requires morse testing and techs can operate voice on 10M, right? A hundred watt 10M should really be nice and the antenna would not be any larger than CB. Two meter on one mirror and 10 on the other?

unless there are people on 10m running legal limit in which case you'll get squashed just like 11m when the skip is rolling...
